Since automatic control is used in every field, there is almost no industrial application system which doesn’t employ the sensors. It makes correctly reading the data obtained from sensors in the system with sensors and transmitting this data into the computer more important. In this executed study, a design for an interface which can be easily used with a low cost data processing card and with flexible structure was performed. In the executed system, the PIC18F4550 microcontroller was used and data can be accurately read from 10 different channels. The data read from the designed data acquisition card was transferred into a computer interface program prepared in C# program using a USB and recorded into the database in the Microsoft Access program. The designed interface, the values of read signals and their graphs may be displayed on the screen. Thus, the interface screen may be used as both an indicator and oscilloscope screen.

Commercially available turn-key systems are expensive and require substantial lab space making it harder to accommodate many in vibrations laboratories. This study presents a low-cost, compact and portable torsional mechanism incorporating multiple rotating disks and a long thin rod supported vertically with bearings and fixed supports at the top and bottom ends to study modeling of systems using experimental data. The mechanism consisting of a rod, disks, bearing and disk supports, and a base, is built by 3D printing using thermoplastic PETG. The long, thin rod in this mechanism serves as a torsional spring. The equivalent stiffnesses of the 2 DOF system can be changed by adjusting the vertical position of the disks with respect to the ends, thereby shortening or lengthening the effective twist length of the thin rod. The overall dimensions of the mechanism are 6 inches in height, 5 inches in width and 2 inches in depth, and the expected cost including the experimental setup is around $30 if an Arduino is used for data acquisition and $170 if equipped with National Instruments (NI) external data acquisition card (DAQ). Learning objectives of the lab course utilizing the proposed mechanism are identified. The free response data is collected for single degree of freedom system using an external data acquisition card and potentiometer and unknown parameters of the system are determined by system identification. Mechanism unknown parameters are calculated using system identification and theoretical model is compared with the experimental data.

This study presents a design of an advanced embedded remote monitoring system based on the current computer network technology. This monitoring system carries out a data acquisition process by an embedded field monitor uploads the environmental information and alarm massages to a monitoring center computer and completes the data processing and data storage. The field monitor used in the monitoring system is composed of a data acquisition card and a network transmission card. This monitoring system with low cost simple equipments has practical accuracy that is suitable for unmanned machine room, base station, intelligent community and living house.

This paper proposed low cost instruments for wireless communication based on LabVIEW program. Conventional monitoring and controlling method using LabVIEW need several unique devices including data acquisition card (DAQ), RS232, wireless data acquisition (WDA), the serial and parallel interfaces which lead to expensive cost and complex system. This paper explains the new design of wireless interface devices which uses Wi-Fi USB, MCU board, and RS232 using LabVIEW to save cost. The objective is to develop low cost and easy tools for wireless monitor and interface. Five cases are considered including LED, traffic light, stepping motor, DC volt meter, and temperature data logger on the IEEE 802.11 standard. The experiment results show the developed programs which can remote instruments on a monitor accurately.

A virtual instrument which has the function of data acquisition, displaying and saving, time domain analysis, frequency domain analysis and so on is developed successfully. It combines the developed VI software Labview with the software Star for modal analysis, and makes program for controlling the data acquisition card,to generate a file with a fixed data format, and applies this file in Star System to complete the experiment of modal analysis. In using VI (virtual instrument) for modal analysis of mechanical structure the system realizes data collection、save、display、analysis and processing. From actual working we can make a conclusion that it has the advantage of low-cost, stability, high rate, efficiency and reliability.
