This paper introduces researching results of hybrid synchronous motor rotor permanent-magnet part magnets’ magnetization influence on its starting torque. The magnetic field analysis is made in reluctance synchronous motor and synchronous permanent-magnet motor, as main parts of the hybrid motor.

The prediction of the magnetic field is a prerequisite to investigate the motor performance. This paper focuses on the magnetic field estimation of surface-mounted permanent-magnet (SMPM) motors based on two approximations, i.e., the magnetic circuit analysis and the finite-element analysis (FEA). An equivalent magnetic circuit model is applied to analytically evaluate the magnetic field of a SMPM motor with exterior-rotor configuration. The two-dimensional FEA is then applied to numerically calculate the magnetic field and to verify the validity of the magnetic circuit model. The results show that the errors between the analytical predictions and FEA results are less than 6%. It is of benefit to further design purposes and optimization of SMPM motors.

The dynamic characteristics of an ax symmetrical linear actuator with axially magnetized moving permanent magnet are obtained using combined field and circuit approach. The magnetic field of the actuator has been analyzed using the finite element method over a current-displacement sampling grid. Two field analyses are carried out for each point of the grid - one for the real system and one for the system where the permanent magnet is considered as a soft magnetic body. For each point of the grid, data for the total flux linkage, electromagnetic force and the coil inductance are extracted from the magnetic field analysis. These data are approximated by bicubic spline functions, which are employed in the solution of the system of ordinary differential equations of the electrical circuit and the mechanical motion. Results are obtained for the time variations of the coil current, mover displacement, mover velocity and electromagnetic force. The results for the current and displacement are verified experimentally.
