Taking A-C axis dual rotary working table of 5-axis CNC system as an example, the function of RTCP is introduced and the performing difference between standard NC code and RTCP code is analyzed in this paper. Then, the calculation method of RTCP compensation error has been illustrated. Taking the high precision as the objective, a new real time compensation RTCP module theory is presented and its algorithm implementation process is introduced. Then, this algorithm has been simulated using MATLAB and validated in hardware platform.

Because of the rotate kinematics, the machining of 5-axis brings up the non-linear error. The RTCP (Rotation Tool Center Point) function can always make the interpolated point on the programming track by a real-time linear compensation of CNC system for motion of the rotary axes. Based on detailed analysis of the kinematics principle of 5-axis machine with dual rotary tables, a new design of interpolated algorithm integrated with RTCP function is presented which is simulated in MATLAB, and the result indicates that the algorithm can reduce the non-linear error effectively.

Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) tools are widely used while machining wood-based composites because of its outstanding hardness, thermal conductivity and abrasive resistance. However, the above mentioned beneficial properties such as super hardness also cause problems in manufacturing PCD tools using traditional process methods. The main problem now in manufacturing PCD tools is the low efficiency and difficulties while manufacturing PCD tools with complex curved surface. To manufacture PCD tools with complex curved surface more efficiently, in this paper, the mechanical structure, hardware circuit and software system of five-axis EDG CNC system are introduced. To satisfy the unique requirements of EDG, a proper mechanical structure of 5 CNC controlled axis and 2 manual axis are given, as well as the design of hardware circuit of EDG based on PCI Bus. The software system which is designed based on RT-Linux is divided into four modules: real-time cyclical tasks module, real-time gusty tasks module, non real-time tasks module and EDG process database. , This paper gives out the solutions of the specific functions of this special CNC system, including automatic measurement, automatic programming, automatic electrode wear compensation, and detection and control of spark gap. The detailed structure and organization of the software system is also provided. At last, through actual cutting experiments of woodworking PCD tools, the correctness and practicality of this system is verified.

This paper aims at A-C axis dual rotary working table five-axis CNC system, does some research about the calculating method of space tool compensation vector in five-axis CNC machine. The algorithm of post-process of five-axis CNC machine has been analyzed. The special postprocessor based on five-axis cutter location source file(CLSF) which generated from UG NX 6.0 software has been developed and applied, and there are space tool compensation vectors in the five-axis NC code. Taking blade as machined part for example, NC code machined simulation is verified in Vericut7.0 software, and space tool compensation vector for graphic simulation is analyzed. The actual calculating results indicate that the proposed method is correct and feasible.

PCD tools, especially curve edge PCD compound tools are used widely in machining nonferrous and non-metal materials with high efficiency and precision because of their excellent cutting properties. But high quality grinding of PCD tools is the uppermost obstacle in application because there are great difficulties to profile and sharpen edge in grinding, especially for milling cutter and drill with curve edge. This paper studied technology of wire EDG curve edge PCD compound tools by wire electrical discharge grinding machine with five-axis CNC system. The grinding quality was evaluated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and roughometer. Three steps processing technique (roughing, finishing and fine finishing) and optimal process parameters of wire EDG PCD tools were recommended after considering synthetically the surface quality, precision and machining efficiency. The results met the requirement of high surface quality, precision and efficiency. This paper also applied successfully the optimal technology to grind a PCD milling cutter with outer and inner blade by electrical discharge grinding machine with five-axis CNC system. By the optimal parameters, the process yielded high precision of ±4.3µm and low roughness of 0.30µm. Experiment results have great practical significance to the high precise and efficient wire EDG of PCD tools.

Record machining tasks and machine status automatically based on one development kit for CNC system. A custom control is developed based on COM component technology to view recorded machining tasks and machine status on the CNC screen real-time. The function of data acquisition implemented by this article, can not only provide the basic data for the MES system, but also facilitate the operators to view the machining tasks and machine status.
