Record machining tasks and machine status automatically based on one development kit for CNC system. A custom control is developed based on COM component technology to view recorded machining tasks and machine status on the CNC screen real-time. The function of data acquisition implemented by this article, can not only provide the basic data for the MES system, but also facilitate the operators to view the machining tasks and machine status.

In this paper, a soft CNCS (Computerized Numerical Control System) works on Windows-XP operating system is presented. The comparison between soft CNC and traditional CNC system is discussed. The structure of soft CNC system is introduced as follow. The realizations of each real time module, such as real time path planning and interpolation, real time close-loop controller, real time safety detection, are introduced in detail. The real time tasks are based on a real time kernel. In the end, an application of the soft CNC system is realized on a 3-axis milling machine. The machining result shows it works well.

Because of the rotate kinematics, the machining of 5-axis brings up the non-linear error. The RTCP (Rotation Tool Center Point) function can always make the interpolated point on the programming track by a real-time linear compensation of CNC system for motion of the rotary axes. Based on detailed analysis of the kinematics principle of 5-axis machine with dual rotary tables, a new design of interpolated algorithm integrated with RTCP function is presented which is simulated in MATLAB, and the result indicates that the algorithm can reduce the non-linear error effectively.

Taking A-C axis dual rotary working table of 5-axis CNC system as an example, the function of RTCP is introduced and the performing difference between standard NC code and RTCP code is analyzed in this paper. Then, the calculation method of RTCP compensation error has been illustrated. Taking the high precision as the objective, a new real time compensation RTCP module theory is presented and its algorithm implementation process is introduced. Then, this algorithm has been simulated using MATLAB and validated in hardware platform.

Recently, the application of fieldbus is becoming a trend in the development of CNC system towards decentralisation, network and multi-axis linkage. It is anticipated that fieldbus will be one of the leading technologies in the area of numerical control before long. Meanwhile, embedded system has been widely used in numerical control field to solve the reliability and real-time problems. In order to give full play to the advantages of embedded systems, the MECHATROLINK-II fieldbus is introduced to solve the transmission bottleneck of servo communications and multi-axis synchronous control problems. And it is proved that the application scheme combined fieldbus and embedded system is successful and valid by a large amount of performance testings.
