In this research, a sequential sol-thermal route has been used to prepare the SnO2 nanocolloid, Pt nanoparticles were then deposited on the nanosupport to obtain the Pt-SnO2/MWCNTs. The electrochemical performances of the catalysts were characterized by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The Pt (fcc) crystalline was proved to be form on the surface of carbon nanotubes. The Pt based catalyst modified by tin oxides exhibit a electro-chemical performance for methanol electro-oxidation.

ABSTRACTPlatinum/Cerium oxide-based catalysts for methanol electro oxidation were prepared by the occlusion deposition technique. Composite glassy carbon (GC) electrodes were modified and then tested towards the methanol electro oxidation half reaction in acid and alkaline medium. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques were used to test the catalytic response of the composite electrodes. AFM studies were carried out in order to have a measurement of the particle size and distribution of the platinum/ceria catalyst on HOPG.

In this work nickel octadecylphthalocyanine (NiPc(C10H21)8) and cadmium telluride quantum dots (QDs) capped with thioglycolic acid (TGA) are adsorbed on single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) to form NiPc(C10H21)8 -SWCNT-QDs conjugate. X-ray photoelectron, ultra violet/visible and Raman spectroscopies are used to characterize the conjugate. SWCNT, poly- Ni(O)Pc(C10H21)8 , NiPc(C10H21)8 -SWCNT and NiPc(C10H21)8 -SWCNT-QDs complexes are used to modify glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and used for the electro-oxidation of pentachlorophenol as a test molecule. NiPc(C10H21)8 -SWCNT-QDs electrode gave the best detection current for pentachlorophenol.

This work presents the design, preparation, and characterization of a novel glucose electrochemical biosensor based on the immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOX) into a nylon nanofibrous membrane (NFM) prepared by electrospinning and functionalized with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNT). A disc of such GOX/CNT/NFM membrane (40 μm in thickness) was used for coating the surface of a glassy carbon electrode. The resulting biosensor was characterized by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry, with ferrocene methanol as mediator. The binding of GOX around the CNT/NFM greatly enhances the electron transfer, which results in a biosensor with a current five times higher than without CNT. The potential usefulness of the proposed biosensor was demonstrated with the analysis of glucose in commercial beverages and along the monitoring of the brewing process for making beer, from the mashing to the fermentation steps.
