In this paper, a steering wheel angle and torque acquisition program consisted of a steering wheel angle and torque sensor, 16-bit Σ-A/D converter, SCM and CAN bus chip is described. It describes the A / D conversion, angle and torque values calculation , CAN Communication and host computer acquisition software implementation and other important processes for the method. On this basis, the steering wheel angle and torque data collection realization is finished, and it has operated in the actual vehicle environments. The results show that the system is of high precision, good stability, and it is suitable for driving behavior tests and vehicle handling and stability test.

The tidal current energy generation system, which works underwater and is interfered by electrical transmission during the process of data communication, has field update requirements but cannot directly use In-System Programming (ISP) to update, so a remote multi-processor updating system is developed based on ISP and CAN bus. This system consists of a shore station host computer, master controller and the slaves. The host computer transmits the HEX file to the master controller via CAN bus, and the master controller updates the appointed slave by ISP. This paper studies retransmission mechanism and ISP process. The system avoids failed update caused by data channel interference through separating the HEX file transmission and the ISP process.

Abstract Much progress has been made over recent years in understanding many aspects of driver-vehicle interactions, for example, linked to ergonomics/comfort of the cabin, influence of improved safety systems, interactions with ITS systems etc. However, in more dynamic situations, similar levels of understanding have not been achieved. Such dynamic events range from whole body motions such as vehicle handling and ride to component behaviour including, in particular, steering wheel feel and gearshift quality.

In present work, the distribution of electric field strength on the surface of work piece was analyzed through ANSYS and theoretical equation. Moreover, the attractive force acting on particles that disperses in ER polishing fluid was calculated. A series of basic experiments were conducted, it is aimed to find out the effective process parameters on the surface roughness using the work piece as electrode. Vehicle handling directional stability has been more and more important, experiments for steering wheel corner step input response, steering oil tank response property, steady state turning and steering angle of all steering wheels were conducted in this paper, the experimental results show that multi-wheel steering system can fulfill its function very well and reach target angle, it provides a new method for researching for the vehicle handling directional stability.

Many studies have been conducted to develop models to predict speed and driver comfort thresholds on horizontal curves, and to evaluate design consistency. The approaches used to develop these models differ from one another in data collection, data processing, assumptions, and analysis. However, some issues might be associated with the data collection that can affect the reliability of collected data and developed models. In addition, analysis of speed behavior on the assumption that vehicles traverse horizontal curves at a constant speed is far from actual driving behavior. Using the Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS) database can help overcome problems associated with data collection. This paper aimed at using NDS data to investigate driving behavior on horizontal curves in terms of speed, longitudinal acceleration, and comfort threshold. The NDS data were valuable in providing clear insight on drivers’ behavior during daytime and favorable weather conditions. A methodology was developed to evaluate driver behavior and was coded in Matlab. Sensitivity analysis was performed to recommend values for the parameters that can affect the output. Analysis of the drivers’ speed behavior and comfort threshold highlighted several issues that describe how drivers traverse horizontal curves that need to be considered in horizontal curve design and consistency evaluation.

This paper provides a runtime stability analysis of the Daisy-Chain clock synchronization algorithm running over CASCA - a time-triggered extension of CAN bus. The main objective is to show with practical results how to achieve global time base of high precision and how this precision is affected by the modification of the TDMA transmission schedule. That contributes by providing some basic guidelines for the task of designing time-triggered, TDMA-based distributed systems for embedded control applications.

Automatic loop centring has been developed as part of the automation process in crystallographic data collection at the Swiss Light Source. The procedure described here consists of an optional set-up part, in which the background images are taken, and the actual centring part. The algorithm uses boundary and centre-of-mass detection at two different microscope image magnifications. Micromounts can be handled as well. Centring of the loops can be achieved in 15–26 s, depending on their initial position, and as fast as manual centring. The alignment of the sample is carried out by means of a new flexural-hinge-based compact goniometer head. The device features an electromagnet for robotic wet mounting of samples. The circle of confusion was measured to be smaller than 1 µm (r.m.s.); its bidirectional backlash is below 2 µm.

An accurate and automatic weighting method was used to satisfy the command. The system consisted a hopper, a vibration propellant delivering equipment, a particle separation equipment and control system. The main controller and the programmed logic controller were used to control the system to make sure the high precision of particles weighting as host computer and slave computer respectively. The result shows that the method can solve the key technology of the automatic weighting of the small-bore experimental cartridge and offers significance for the automatic weighting of standard particles.
