Objective: The focus of this research was to analyze the impact of decentralized and centralized hospital design layouts on the delivery of efficient care and the resultant level of caregiver satisfaction. Background: An interdisciplinary team conducted a multiphased pre- and postoccupancy evaluation of a cardiovascular service line in an academic hospital that moved from a centralized to decentralized model. This study examined the impact of walkability, room usage, allocation of time, and visibility to better understand efficiency in the care environment. Method: A mixed-methods data collection approach was utilized, which included pedometer measurements of staff walking distances, room usage data, time studies in patient rooms and nurses’ stations, visibility counts, and staff questionnaires yielding qualitative and quantitative results. Results: Overall, the data comparing the centralized and decentralized models yielded mixed results. This study’s centralized design was rated significantly higher in its ability to support teamwork and efficient patient care with decreased staff walking distances. The decentralized unit design was found to positively influence proximity to patients in a larger design footprint and contribute to increased visits to and time spent in patient rooms. Conclusion: Among the factors contributing to caregiver efficiency and satisfaction are nursing station design, an integrated team approach, and the overall physical layout of the space on walkability, allocation of caregiver time, and visibility. However, unit design alone does not solely impact efficiency, suggesting that designers must consider the broader implications of a culture of care and processes.

For recent decades, entrepreneurial intent and start-up movement have gained the intensive attention from business graduates and policymarkers around the world. Recently, Vietnam strategized to become a “start-up” nation and entrepreneurship has emerged as an important issue for both academic research and economic development policies. This fact has drawn scholar’s attention to what intrinsic and extrinsic antecedents and determinants might shape such decision-making away from seemingly more secure corporate and government jobs toward an entrepreneurial career. Since that phenomenon, the entrepreneurial intention is widely discussed and studied worldwide. Across emerging economies in Asia, entrepreneurial intention studies have been conducted in many countries. However, the reason and determinants of entrepreneurial intention still lack empirical. The call for further research in entrepreneurial intention encourages the research question: “What intrinsic and extrinsic determinants impact the decision (intent and agency) of business students in Vietnam to become entrepreneurs?”. This book chapter provides the answers and implications for the research question mentioned.

Crowdfunding is an innovative form of financial support that is increasingly used around the world. Crowdfunding can provide a new investment channel and help those with innovative ideas and start-up businesses to circumvent traditional financing struggles and secure alternative finance. This paper presents an overview of crowdfunding, its fundamentals, and its main participants. Specifically, it explores the characteristics of crowdfunding in Saudi Arabia by examining the first and successful crowdfunding platform (Manafa) to be licensed by the country’s capital market authority. This paper shows that the sole applicable model in Saudi Arabia is equity-based crowdfunding, and this is significantly controlled and operated under a more efficient legal framework than much foreign crowdfunding. However, the Saudi market would benefit from greater awareness of crowdfunding as a new investment channel, and from the introduction of the debt-based crowdfunding model in accordance with Saudi market regulations.
