In today’s society, digital media play an increasing role in gathering and exchanging information. A growing part of communication takes place in the Internet and many people are increasingly influenced by information provided via digital and social media. Development of critical media literacy is needed, if the general public is expected to effectively deal with this flood of information and to become able to distinguish between correct and false information sources. Thus, critical media education becomes an important aim of education in general, and of chemistry education in particular when considering questions directly related to chemistry and its associated consumer products or technologies. The article describes a curriculum development case study investigating the integration of media education with chemistry learning along the case of learning with and about Internet forums on the topic of water chemistry. A unit integrating theoretical and practical chemistry learning based on student communication is described, which is built around a digital forum operated by Moodle. The unit design and findings from the implementation are presented.

Organizational conflicts are generally inevitable in public institutions. However, there seems to be paucity of studies on the causes of organisational conflict in public institutions in Ghana in general and Tamale High Court in particular. This article seeks to bridge this knowledge gap by determining the causal factors of organizational conflicts in the Tamale High Court. The research gathered data from both primary and secondary sources and used the case study approach. The key instruments used for the data collection were interview guides. A total of fifteen (15) participants; eight (8) senior staff and seven (7) junior staff who took part in this study were purposively selected. The study found out that ineffective organisational system, unpredictable policies, tribalism, incompatible goals, poor communication, distribution of duties, lack of benefits, varying views on accountability, poor relations between senior and junior staff, disagreement between employees and employers, clashing of one’s role, selfishness among employers and employees, politics and difference in educational background, personal experiences, religion and gender are the factors causing conflict at Tamale High Court. It is recommended that the staff of Tamale High Court should be cordial and work harmoniously towards the administration of Justice in Ghana. It is further recommended that the management of Judicial Service in the Northern Region of Ghana apart from the Complaint Unit design a system where grievances can be tackled easily when there are conflicts. Keywords: Causes, Organizational Conflict, Public Institutions, Tamale High Court, Northern Region, Ghana.

Abstract Fine control of output power for nuclear power plants is the essential goal for safe operation. In this work, a Fuzzy analytical proportional-integral-derivative (FPID) controller with different configurations is designed to adjust and control the pressure of the PZR system. The stability analysis of the FPID controller with variable gains is established, and conditions for bounded-input bounded-output stability conditions (BIBO) are derived using the small gain theory. Two scenarios are applied for evaluating the dynamic response of applied controllers. In addition, performance indices are compared between the PZR model and data measured from the PCtran VVER-1200 simulator. Finally, a simulation platform is developed for MATLAB / Simulink to implement the three-region nonlinear non-equilibrium PZR model and the designed pressure controllers. The analysis and evaluation results showed good durability of the designed controllers and satisfactory performance of the control. These results further show that the nonlinear PZR model is accurate, feasible, and valuable for dynamic simulation and control unit design.

The power unit is mainly responsible for the power converter’s function of the electric vehicle, which converts the DC power from the battery to the AC power to drive the motor. Therefore, the parasitic parameters of the power unit will directly affect the output performance of the vehicle. In this paper, the parasitic parameters of the power unit are analyzed. By using an asymmetric design, the capacitor cost and performance are balanced. Moreover, the structure of the busbar is optimized according to the reasonable theoretical analysis. The simulation comparison before and after the optimization, and the comparison results of the measurement results by the double pulse test, are given to verify the optimization. Additionally, the ESL of the busbar is reduced by 10 nH. The results will offer some references to the power unit design.

This study explores the relationship between inpatient unit design and patient experience and how spatial features and visibility impact patients’ perception of staff responsiveness. The first part of this study is a retrospective pre–post and cross-sectional study evaluating the impacts of unit design on patient experience at the unit level. This study compares patient experiences based on Press Ganey and HCAHPS surveys in two orthopedic units (existing unit in Atrium building and new unit in Tower) with differing design features at Rush University Medical Center. The chi-square test results show that when moving from the old orthopedic unit to the new unit, almost all patient survey items related to patient experience showed statistically significant improvements. The second part of this study is a room level on the new unit. The ANOVA and Pearson correlation tests revealed that the visibility measure of metric step depth had significant impacts on patients’ perception of staff’s “promptness in responding to call button” and “help with toileting”. This study confirms that inpatient unit design plays a direct role in improvement for patient experience and should be considered as an important area of focus for future development.

The paper presents an overview of the latest technology trends in pneumatic automatization at Festo, focusing on digitalization from a component to a system level. The Festo Motion Terminal (VTEM) is valve terminal, designed for digitalization. Unique valve unit design allows valve functions to be defined by a software and to be changed in a running system very quickly, even on the fly. Model based applications on a valve controller offer many advanced functionalities such as: pneumatic servo positioning, force and torque control of pneumatic drives and pressure or flow regulation in pneumatic systems. VTEM native connectivity with higher order controllers adds a possibility to seamlessly integrate it on all levels, from the field to the cloud. User control logic and/or AI algorithms in a combination with digitalized pneumatics allows new services, such as: auto-commissioning, predictive maintenance, increased energy efficiency, automatic leakage detection within pneumatic systems and many others.
