Abstract Analysis of road traffic accidents revealed that most accidents are as a result of drivers’ errors. Over the years, active safety systems (ASS) were devised in vehicle to reduce the high level of road accidents, caused by human errors, leading to death and injuries. This study however evaluated the impacts of ASS inclusions into vehicles in Nigeria road transportation network. The objectives was to measure how ASS contributed to making driving safer and enhanced transport safety. Road accident data were collected, for a period of eleven years, from Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Central Office of Statistics. Quantitative analysis of the retrospective accident was conducted by computing the proportion of yearly number of vehicles involved in road accident to the total number of vehicles for each year. Results of the analysis showed that the proportion of vehicles involved in road accidents decreased from 16 in 1996 to 0.89 in 2006, the injured persons reduced from 15.58 in 1998 to 0.3 in 2006 and the death rate diminished from 4.45 in 1998 to 0.1 in 2006. These represented 94.4 %, 95 % and 95 % improvement respectively on road traffic safety. It can therefore be concluded that the inclusions of ASS into design of modern vehicles had improved road safety in Nigeria automotive industry.

The active safety progression and its implementation reduce the number of fatalities universally at present. The system enables to assist the driver during emergency and risky. The conventional braking system never prevents the collision during critical situation during sudden braking and the vehicle tends to impact. The statistics describes that near miss accidents are huge. The autonomous braking system plays wide role today to prevent the accidents and sadly the system is used only in expensive vehicles. The proposed design and the system can use in the low end vehicles to reduce the fatality rate by using mechanical actuator is connected to the brake pedal for compressing whenever the IR sensor senses the object. The aim of the research is to sense the object and to stop down the vehicle during emergency.

Recent automobile vehicles require additional safety features to enhance the active safety. Due to lack of safety systems in vehicles road accidents are on the rise. The major cause of collision far 80% of accidents is drivers fault as cited by the ministry of road accidents of India. The current research work is carried out to analyze the fault of the driver and to measures the health condition of the driver by placing throb sensor and temperature sensor in steering wheel so as to slow down the vehicle by using Jake brake during abnormal health issue. The proposed systems were analyzed for different category of the condition of driver to improve the safety system technology. When triggered the exhaust valve is opened after the compression stroke enable to escape of compressed air from the cylinders to slowdown the vehicle which prevents the accidents in emergency situations.

Driving with brady-tachy syndrome is one of the main causes of car accidents. In order to prevent drivers from brady-tachy driving, there is a strong demand for driver monitoring systems. Other than problems in driving attitudes and skills, road accidents are also caused by uncontrollable factors such as medical conditions and drowsiness. These factors can be avoided by having early detection. Therefore, the brady-tachy heart automotive so-called BT-Heartomotive device is developed. This BT-Heartomotive device can detect early signs of drowsiness and health problems by measuring the heart rate of the drivers during driving. The device also could use the data to send an alert to the passengers that they’re in precaution. The device shows a good accuracy in the detection of the heart rate level. The device comprised three main components; wristband, monitor and integrated mobile applications. Heart rate measurement can reveal a lot about the physical conditions of an individual. The BT-Heartomotive device is simple, easy to use and automated.

In the last decade on Polish roads has been recorded every year, at least 70,000 drivingunder the influence. Such statistics put Poland ahead of EU countries with the highest numberof intoxicated drivers. There is also no doubt that the risk of road accidents is increasing alongwith the number of drivers with are drunk. Although there are numerous publications addressingissues of offences relating to driving under the influence, this publication containing the analysisof court cases with this range. This work also presents consideration for actually meted sanctionsand measures against people who committed offences relating to driving under the influence.Article consist an introduction, codex regulation of art. 178a § 1 and 4 of the Polish Criminal Code, statistical considerations and conclusion.
