There was no direct relationship between its formation and the axillary artery. Hence, it may be not be readily compromised. The site of MN formation was in proximal relation to the insertion of the coracobrahialis. This is clinically important as it may give a reinforced innervation to the muscle and proprioceptive impulses to medial fibres of the brachialis muscle. Conversely, the MN may be compressed by the tendon of the coracobrahialis, affecting its sympathetic filaments to the brachial artery. Furthermore, when present, it may be severed during reconstructive surgeries around the mid arm as the medial intermuscular septum fades out above the insertion of the coracobrachialis muscle. This report highlights the presence of a significant anatomical variation of the median nerve with regards to its site of formation, roots morphology and distribution, as well as its arterial relations for proper planning of surgeries.Key Words: Median nerve, arterial relations, right upper extremity, Morphology.

CONTEXT: The musculocutaneous nerve is one of the terminal branches of the lateral fasciculus of the brachial plexus, and is responsible for innervation of the flexor musculature of the elbow and for skin sensitivity on the lateral surface of the forearm. Its absence has been described previously, but its real prevalence is unknown. CASE REPORT: A case of absence of the musculocutaneous nerve that was observed during the dissection of the right arm of a male cadaver is described. The area of innervation was supplied by the median nerve. From this, three branches emerged: one to the coracobrachialis muscle, another to the biceps brachii muscle and the third to the brachialis muscle. This last branch continued as a lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve. This is an anatomical variation that has clinical-surgical implications, considering that injury to the median nerve in this case would have caused unexpected paralysis of the flexor musculature of the elbow and hypoesthesia of the lateral surface of the forearm.

AbstractThe median nerve is formed in the axilla by fusion of the two roots from the lateral and medial cords. The present case report describes an anomalous presentation of double formation of median nerve and its relation with axillary and brachial arteries. The median nerve was formed in two stages at different levels, first in the axilla and then in the upper arm by receiving double contribution from the lateral root of the lateral cord, which fuse with the medial root of the medial cord to form the median nerve. The formation took place medial to the axillary artery in the axilla and antero-medial to the brachial artery in the arm. Such anatomical variations and their relation with the arteries are important for the surgeons and anesthesiologists and of great academic interest to the anatomists.

AbstractThis study presents a bilateral variation in the formation of trunks of brachial plexus in a male cadaver. The right brachial plexus was composed of six roots (C4-T1) and the left brachial plexus of five roots (C5-T1). Both formed four trunks thus changing the contributions of the anterior divisions of the cervical nerves involved in the formation of the cords and the five main somatic motor nerves for the upper limb. There are very few case reports in the scientific literature on this topic; thus making the present study very relevant.

We report a case of 66-year-old woman with true aneurysm of the right brachial artery. She presented with acute upper extremity ischemia. The hand was cold and parenthesized and distal pulses were absent. CT angiography (CTA) revealed a 20*25 mm true brachial artery aneurysm. The aneurysm was thrombosed without distal run-off. We excised the aneurysm and reestablished the arterial flow by a reverse saphenous interposition graft. The postoperative course was uneventful.

AbstractA case of the abnormal branching of the right Axillary artery in a 60 year old male cadaver is presented here. The axillary artery divided into two trunks, a lateral and medial from the second part only in this case. The lateral branch was superficial running between two roots of median nerve, which here is referred to as superficial branch. The other was a medial trunk, running deep to median nerve on the medial, hence it is referred as deep brachial artery. The superficial branch had a similar course as radial artery coursing on the lateral side of cubital fossa, fore arm, anatomical snuff box and hand, hence it was considered as equivalent to radial artery. The deep brachial artery gave rise to anterior and posterior circumflex humeral arteries and the superior ulnar collateral artery. This variation is rare and the incidence quoted as around 0.12 - 3.2% in the available literature. The normal and abnormal anatomy of the axillary artery is having practical importance for the radiologists during angiography and surgeons for accurate diagnostic interpretation.

A rare case of a congenital unilateral deformity of the right upper extremity is described consisting of: absence of the carpal bones except the capitate and hamate, absence of the first three metacarpal bones and phalanges and a thumb-like extension to the palm of the dislocated radius. No hereditary family history was found.

Neural fibrolipoma is a benign mass of fibrofatty tissue intermixed with nerve tissue. It most commonly occurs in the upper extremity in infants and children, usually affecting the median nerve. This report describes surgical resection of a rare neural fibrolipoma of the foot in a 32-year-old woman.

The canalis sinuosus is a neurovascular canal, a branch of nerve of infraorbital canal, through which the anterior superior alveolar nerve passes and then leans medially in course between the nasal cavity and the maxillary sinus, reaching the premaxilla in the canine and incisor region. The purpose of this article is to report a case with the presence of canalis sinuosus, in order to alert and guide professionals and discuss the morphology of this anatomical variation avoiding trans- and postsurgical disorders in dental implants. A 51-year-old female was attended to in a radiology clinic, reporting paresthesia in the right upper lip region and painful symptomatology after the installation of an implant in the corresponding region. The case revealed the presence of canalis sinuosus in imaging exams. The knowledge of this anatomical variation is essential for professionals, because attention to this region prevents irreversible damage. Therefore, the use of imaging examinations is recommended during the planning stages and treatment and after surgery in patients undergoing surgery in this area.
