The effect of sulfide passivation (chemical treatment in a peroxide-sulfur etchant and in a solution of Na2S in isopropanol) and complication of the profile of the lateral surface of thyristor mesastructures on the blocking ability of GaAs thyristor mesastructures is investigated. It is shown that the blocking voltage of the chips increases several times both after chemical treatment of the surface and with the complication of the surface topology.

A non-axisymmetric problem of the theory of elasticity for a radial inhomogeneous cylinder of small thickness is studied. It is assumed that the elastic moduli are arbitrary positive piecewise continuous functions of a variable along the radius. Using the method of asymptotic integration of the equations of the theory of elasticity, based on three iterative processes, a qualitative analysis of the stress-strain state of a radial inhomogeneous cylinder is carried out. On the basis of the first iterative process of the method of asymptotic integration of the equations of the theory of elasticity, particular solutions of the equilibrium equations are constructed in the case when a smooth load is specified on the lateral surface of the cylinder. An algorithm for constructing partial solutions of the equilibrium equations for special types of loads, the lateral surface of which is loaded by forces polynomially dependent on the axial coordinate, is carried out. Homogeneous solutions are constructed, i.e., any solutions of the equilibrium equations that satisfy the condition of the absence of stresses on the lateral surfaces. It is shown that homogeneous solutions are composed of three types: penetrating solutions, solutions of the simple edge effect type, and boundary layer solutions. The nature of the stress-strain state is established. It is found that the penetrating solution and solutions having the character of the edge effect determine the internal stress-strain state of a radial inhomogeneous cylinder. Solutions that have the character of a boundary layer are localized at the ends of the cylinder and exponentially decrease with distance from the ends. These solutions are absent in applied shell theories. Based on the obtained asymptotic expansions of homogeneous solutions, it is possible to carry out estimates to determine the range of applicability of existing applied theories for cylindrical shells. Based on the constructed solutions, it is possible to propose a new refined applied theory.

The modernization of the echo method of ultrasonic flaw detection is considered, which differs in that in addition to the array of transducers in contact with the working (front) surface of the object, one or more receiving transducers on the lateral surface of the object are additionally used. This method of arranging the antenna arrays can significantly improve the resolving power, and in the case of using an antenna array on the lateral surface of the object, obtain additional information for imaging the internal structure of the object. In order to obtain the potential resolution, an ultra-wideband sounding signal with a Gaussian envelope is used in combination with an original signal processing algorithm, including summation, one-way limiting and multiplication of the received signals. Some practical recommendations are given in the work. Potential resolution in various directions has been assessed.

The larva of Argia cuprea (Hagen, 1861) is described and figured. It falls into the group of Argia larvae with prominent ligula and one palpal seta, but it differs from its closest relatives by a combination of features such as male gonapophyses reaching posterior ventral margin of S10; dorsal and ventral margin of paraproct with long, abundant, white, delicate setae on distal 0.40; tip of paraproct 20% its total length; lateral surface of paraproct with abundant spiniform setae restricted to the triangular, yellowish-brown, slightly sclerotized area along the inflated area. It appears closely related to A. oenea Hagen in Selys, 1865 and A. orichalcea Hagen in Selys, 1865 larvae.

Notosuchians are an extinct clade of terrestrial crocodyliforms with a particularly rich record in the late Early to Late Cretaceous (approx. 130–66 Ma) of Gondwana. Although much of this diversity comes from South America, Africa and Indo-Madagascar have also yielded numerous notosuchian remains. Three notosuchian species are currently recognized from the early Late Cretaceous (approx. 100 Ma) Kem Kem Group of Morocco, including the peirosaurid Hamadasuchus rebouli . Here, we describe two new specimens that demonstrate the presence of at least a fourth notosuchian species in this fauna. Antaeusuchus taouzensis n. gen. n. sp. is incorporated into one of the largest notosuchian-focused character-taxon matrices yet to be compiled, comprising 443 characters scored for 63 notosuchian species, with an increased sampling of African and peirosaurid species. Parsimony analyses run under equal and extended implied weighting consistently recover Antaeusuchus as a peirosaurid notosuchian, supported by the presence of two distinct waves on the dorsal dentary surface, a surangular which laterally overlaps the dentary above the mandibular fenestra, and a relatively broad mandibular symphysis. Within Peirosauridae, Antaeusuchus is recovered as the sister taxon of Hamadasuchus . However, it differs from Hamadasuchus with respect to several features, including the ornamentation of the lateral surface of the mandible, the angle of divergence of the mandibular rami, the texture of tooth enamel and the shape of the teeth, supporting their generic distinction. We present a critical reappraisal of the non-South American Gondwanan notosuchian record, which spans the Middle Jurassic–late Eocene. This review, as well as our phylogenetic analyses, indicate the existence of at least three approximately contemporaneous peirosaurid lineages within the Kem Kem Group, alongside other notosuchians, and support the peirosaurid affinities of the ‘trematochampsid’ Miadanasuchus oblita from the Maastrichtian of Madagascar. Furthermore, the Cretaceous record demonstrates the presence of multiple lineages of approximately contemporaneous notosuchians in several African and Madagascan faunas, and supports previous suggestions regarding an undocumented pre-Aptian radiation of Notosuchia. By contrast, the post-Cretaceous record is depauperate, comprising rare occurrences of sebecosuchians in north Africa prior to their extirpation.

Abstract This paper presents the results of using intraoperative fluorescence diagnostics (FD) with the endoscopic video system to increase the efficiency of photodynamic therapy (PDT). The molecular form of chlorin e6 was used as a photosensitizer (PS). All patients received an intravenous administration drug based on chlorin e6 at the concentration of 1 mg/kg. Diagnostics and therapy were carried out in 4 patients diagnosed by malignant neoplasms of the lateral surface of the tongue. Determination of the boundaries by changing the signal of the fluorescence intensity of the tumor was carried out before PDT and after PDT. The efficiency of PDT was assessed by the fluorescent signal of the tumor decreasing when compared with non-pathological normal tissue. The FD method allows to determine accurately the actual size of the tumor and its borders. All patients underwent PDT influenced by the therapeutic laser with a generation wavelength of 660 nm. It is shown that the using of fluorescence diagnostics improves the quality of the photodynamic therapy, since it is possible to assess the photobleaching of the drug during the operation.

In our study we analyse the vibration of a right cylinder which consists of an elastic material with dipolar structure and has pores. One end of this cylinder is subjected to an excitation, harmonically in time. The other end of the cylinder and its lateral surface are free of loads. We prove that the presence of the voids does not affect the spatial decay of effects away from the excited end, if the harmonic excitation level is below a predetermined threshold.

In this study, we present the simulations and experimental observations of photonic jet (PJ) shaping by control of tangential electric field components at illuminating wavelengths of 405 nm, 532 nm, and 671 nm. The PJs are generated by a single dielectric 4-micrometer cube that was fabricated from polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The dielectric cube is deposited on a silicon substrate and placed on two aluminum masks with a width equal to the side length of the cube. Due to the appearance of the metal masks, the focal length and decay length of the generated PJs decreased almost twice, while the PJ resolution increased 1.2 times. Thus, PJ shaping can be controlled by the presence of the metal mask along the lateral surface of the cube without changing the external shape or internal structure of the cube. This effect is based on the control of the tangential components of the electric field along the lateral surface of the cube. In the case of a one-sided metal mask, the effect of optical deflection and bending is predicted to form a photonic hook. Due to the low cost of these dielectric cubes, they have potential in far-field systems to better meet the requirements of modern optical integration circuits and switches.
