Take the Liangzhu pottery as examples, an approach of form style recognition was proposed to further exploring the redesign of cultural artifacts from industrial design. Firstly, six major images of Liangzhu pottery was investigated by using KJ method and Factor Analysis; Then the relationship between the essential form factors and the major images were analyzed through Quantification Type I; Finally, the perceptual image knowledge base of Liangzhu cultural artifacts and a computer-aided form redesign system was built. Based on this system, the particular images conveyed by the cultural artifacts and the corresponding form features can be obtained, the traditional culture can be expanded. Thus the theory of form style recognition in the redesign of cultural artifacts is tested.

On the study of Kansei engineering and product identity, This paper presents the key methods and process of product identity design on Kansei image, including locating the Kansei image space, identifying the design feature space, mapping relation between Kansei image and design elements, mining product semantic. The research also establishes the Kansei image space model on the three cognitive dimensions of visual, quality and brand, and summarizes the design of processes and methods. In those aspects, some Kansei engineering methods are used to achieve industrial design, such as KJ method, SD method, Principal component analysis method, Quantification-I theory method. It is verified after the practical application of Hongshan testing machine that the method and process is reasonable and feasible.

This essay is a discussion of the KJ method developed by a Japanese ethnologist, Jiro Kawakita. A brief biography of Kawakita and the history of the KJ method is described. The KJ method was developed as a result of having difficulties in interpreting ethnographic data in Nepal. The KJ method builds upon Charles Pierce's notions of abduction and relies upon intuitive non-logical thinking processes. Kawakita's methods were developed and diffused throughout Japanese management and educational circles. Kawakita believes that his methodology has the potential of liberating humanity from the mechanistic philosophy imposed by Western Civilization. The KJ method, according to Kawakita has universal applicability and does not only conform to Japanese culture and management decision-making processes which are generally based on the group-orientation model. This simplistic group-orientation model of Japanese society is being criticized by anthropologists such as Harumi Befu. Kawakita argues that human nature is universal, and that the KJ method, as a means of decision-making can be utilized in all societies throughout the world to implement social and economic development.
