This paper critically explores the working culture of legal aid lawyers and develops a novel ‘Shared Orientation’ model to better understand contemporary legal aid work and its workers. Set within a context of changing professional identities, a shrinking industry and financial constraints, the paper draws on ethnographic and interview data conducted with a high-street firm, multiple courtrooms and a law centre. It examines the emerging relevance and applicability of this new conceptual lens, refocusing the gaze on working life in fissured legal workplaces. It is argued that the ‘Shared Orientation’ model upholds multiple functions. Firstly, it captures the cultural heterogeneity of the legal aid profession, across civil-criminal and solicitor-barrister remits alike. Secondly, the model functions as a form of cohesive coping mechanism in response to the changing professional identity of the legal aid lawyers. Moreover, the ‘Shared Orientation’ offers unity as a way of functioning in an otherwise fragmented profession through its preservation of working culture ideals.

To register mobile mapping system (MMS) lidar points and panoramic-image sequences, a relative orientation model of panoramic images (PROM) is proposed. The PROM is suitable for cases in which attitude or orientation parameters are unknown in the panoramic-image sequence. First, feature points are extracted and matched from panoramic-image pairs using the SURF algorithm. Second, these matched feature points are used to solve the relative attitude parameters in the PROM. Then, combining the PROM with the absolute position and attitude parameters of the initial panoramic image, the MMS lidar points and panoramic-image sequence are registered. Finally, the registration accuracy of the PROM method is assessed using corresponding points manually selected from the MMSlidar points and panoramic-image sequence. The results show that three types of MMSdata sources are registered accurately based on the proposed registration method. Our method transforms the registration of panoramic images and lidar points into image feature-point matching, which is suitable for diverse road scenes compared with existing methods.

Subject. The article investigates the process of market orientation of enterprise functioning based on a marketing strategy. Objectives. We focus on building a model of market orientation of enterprise functioning, enabling to choose a development strategy and increase production efficiency. Methods. The study rests on developments, concepts and hypotheses that are justified and reflected in the works on the problems of economic theory, economic growth, and development. Results. We present a model of market orientation of enterprise functioning, which is based on a marketing strategy. Conclusions. The proposed mechanism for assessing a market orientation model at the enterprise enables to create a universal criterion that takes into account both financial and non-financial indicators of evaluating a marketing strategy, namely, an integrated indicator of customer value satisfaction. A special feature of the model is the ability to compare integrated indicators of customer value satisfaction for each developed marketing strategy at the enterprise. As a result of such a comparison, it is possible to choose the most effective strategy for the analyzed enterprise.

The selection of the sample in a survey constitutes a significant parameter for the research process. A disagreement of opinions is observed in the field of management between researchers regarding which sample fabricates better results in surveys administered in public organizations. Some of them support that only the senior levels of the management hierarchy should participate in (Elite Orientation Model), while others support the participation of representatives from all levels (Multiple Informants Model). A questionnaire was administered to people from the three levels of Hellenic Sport Federations (HSFs) management hierarchy (employees, directors/managers, Board members) in order to investigate their perception about the degree to which excellence processes (enablers / results) were implemented. The purpose of this paper was to investigate which is the most appropriate model, regarding the selection of participants in studies about the administration /management of public organizations. Statistically significant differences regarding their perceptions for the topic under investigation were revealed, which were directly related to their level in the hierarchy. It was concluded that in similar studies the Multiple Informants Model fabricates more reliable results. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-01272 Full Text: PDF

The field of view (FOV) of pushbroom hyperspectral imager is limited by the compromise of the detector scale and requirements of spatial resolution. Combining imagers along the sampling direction effectively expands its FOV and improves the imaging efficiency. Due to the small overlapping area between the adjacent imagers, stitching the images using traditional methods need a large amount of ground control points (GCPs) or additional strips, which reduce the efficiency of both image acquisition and processing. This paper proposed a new method to precisely stitch images acquired from multiple pushbroom imagers. First, the relative orientation model was built based on the homonymy points to calculate the relative relationship between the adjacent imagers. Then rigorous geometric imaging model was adopted to generate a seamless stitching image. Simulation data was used to verify the accuracy of the method and to quantitatively analyze the effect of different error sources. Results show that the stitching accuracy is better than two pixels. Overall, this method provides a novel solution for stitching airborne multiple pushbroom images, to generate the seamless stitching image with wide FOV.
