This paper describes the design and development of remote communication system for mines detector robot. This project uses a PIC18F4580 microcontroller to control the robot movements and functions. A metal detector will be attached to the robot. The robot will have two operating modes; automatic and manual mode. In automatic mode, the robot will move according to a predefined track. When the robot is moving, the system produces feedbacks given by the sensors on the robot to the remote computer about the surroundings and when potential land mines are detected. In manual mode, the robot will be fully controlled by the remote computer for decision making process. All the controls and monitoring of data are displayed in a graphical user interface (GUI). The wireless module proposed is the XBee RF modules. The XBee modules were found to perform with optimum data transfer reliability at the range equals to 25% of its maximum communication range.

This paper studied application of fiber-optic and wireless communication technology in remote communication system for transmission line based on CMA and proposed the typical design scheme for different applications. The design of CMA which realized monitoring data centralized and upload had been given. The remote communication system used OPGW communication scheme had been constructed and run well, which has important significance for the construction of transmission line monitoring system.

The AMR (Auto Meter Reading) is needs to prepare separate IPs and communication lines for remote communication because DCU (Data Concentration Unit) and wideband modem are identical system required the resource to communication. It is the purpose of the literature to improve system stability and data reliability by means of integrating broadband cable communication part and PLC communication part within DCU. A PLC has some draw-backs in wideband communication because of absences of international standard specifications and the characteristic of power line. We integrated broadband cable modem and PLC modem in DCU. Therefore, the communication system is designed with unified board. PLC modem and broadband cable modem are designed to meet ISO/IEC12139-1 and international specified DOCSIS2.0 standard, respectively.
