A preliminary survey for antibodies against some selected viruses in village chickens of various age groups was carried out in Borno State, Nigeria. Three hundred and twenty samples consisting of 160 sera from adult chickens, 60 sera from chicks and 100 yolk samples from embryonated en eggs were tested against Newcastle disease (ND), influenza (FLU) A and B viruses, and egg drop syndrome (EDS) - 76 viruses using haemagglutination inhibition (HI) test; and infectious bursal disease (IBD) virus using the agar gel diffusion test (AGDT). Eighty-five percent of the samples tested positive to one or more viruses, with IBD having the highest percentage prevalence (45.7%) followed by FLU A (26.5%), ND (22.4%), EDS-76 (19.3%) and FLU B (0%). The percentage of mixed infectious among different age groups was highest among chicks. The importance of village chickens in the spread and maintenance of viral diseases of poultry are discussed from an epidemiological point of view.

Haemophilus parasuis, the causative agent of Glässer’s disease, has been reported widely, but seldom is known about its epidemiology in Sichuan province, China. The objective was to reveal the prevalence and distribution of H.parasuis in the area. Widely sampling and isolation was performed initially and following serotyping multiplex PCR (serotyping-mPCR) combined with agar gel diffusion (GD) was subjected to these strains. From January 2014 to May 2016, 254 H.parasuis field strains were isolated from 576 pigs with clinical symptoms, for the frequence of 44.10%. Statistically significant differences of infection incidence were found in three age groups and seasons. Serovars 5(25.98%) and 4(23.62%) were the most prevalent and non-typeable isolates accounted for 7.87%. In geographical distribution, serovars 5 and 4 were prepotent in both major two parts of Sichuan province. The results confirmed the compound approach was dependable and revealed the diversity and distribution of serovars in Sichuan province, which was promising to know relevant vaccinal candidates and further prevention.

397 fecal samples were collected from dogs of different breeds, ages andsex. Detection of rotavirus was achieved by two techniques latexagglutination test and agar gel diffusion test. Blood samples werecollected to study various hematological parameters. The results showed that 95 samples were positive to rotavirus 23samples (24.2%) were from diarrheic cases and 72 samples (75.8%)were from non diarrheic cases.Younger dogs were more affected with rotavirus infection 17 positivecases than older ages 6 positive cases. The results showed that diarrheiccases caused by rotavirus were 23 cases (25.3%) that were less than thediarrheic cases caused by other agents 68 cases (74.7%).It had been shown that the ages less than one year (11 cases) were moreaffected with rotavirus and complication with dehydration than agesolder than one year (2 cases). It was found that the morbidity rate in males (53%) was significantlyhigher than females (47%).The Terrier breed showed a high morbidity rate 42% than others Mixed,Greatdane, Goledretriver and Doberman. Our study showed that latex agglutination test was more sensitive thanagar gel diffusion test and the positive samples out of 200 samples weredetected by using latex agglutination test were 39 samples while 18positive samples by agar gel diffusion test. There were no differences in blood parameters of the dogs that showedpositive results of rotavirus in comparing them with the negativeresults. The study showed that rotavirus is widely spreaded among doges withgastrointestinal diseases, it showed that latex agglutination test is morereliable for quick clinical diagnosis.

ABSTRACT To detect the meat or meat product adulterated in beef products, the research was carried out with using immunological tecnique (agar gel precipitation test). The purpose of this study was to investigate various antigen preparation, to determine the optimum method for producing antiserum of the desired titer and specificity, and to know whether antiserum from fresh meat still capable to determine extract from cooked meat. Six kinds of extract antigen from beef and 3 kinds of meat proteins were used in the research. Those were 6 kinds of extract antigen from fresh meat, wet dendeng, dry dendeng, frest bakso, cooked bakso and abon, and 3 kinds of meat protein from globulin, myoglobin and actomyosin. The rabbit were injected intramusculary and intravenausly on alternate weeks for eight injections and were tested every week to detect titers of antiserum. The results showed that intramuscular and intravenous injection of extract antigen from frest meat, frest bakso and cooked bakso emulsified in Freund Complete Adjuvant causad antibodies production higher titers thant wet dendeng and dry dendeng, whereas extract from abon showed a negative gel diffusion response after 8 weeks injection. Serum corresponding to the extract from the other cooked meat, except the extract from abon. The extract from abon always indicated a negative response on gel diffusion test. Injection of globulin and myioglobin showed a strong positive gel diffusion test after 8 weeks with extract from frest meat, whereas actomyosin resulted in negative response to extract from fresh meat by gel diffusion test.Key Word : Antigen; Antibody; Intravenous; Intramuscular and
