Abstract. Select appropriate strategies according to all effective criteria in combating desertification process can be so useful in controlling and rehabilitation of degraded lands, and avoid degradation in vulnerable fields. This study provides systematic and optimal strategies of combating desertification by group decision-making model. To this end, in the framework of Multi Attribute Decision Making (MADM) and by using Delphi model (Delphi), the preferences of indexes were obtained. Then priorities of strategies were evaluated by using linear assignment (LA) method. According to the results, the strategies to prevent improper change of land use (A18), development and reclamation of plant cover (A23) and adjustment for harvesting from groundwater sources (A31), respectively were identified as the most important strategies for combating desertification in this study area. Therefore, it was suggested to consider ranking results in projects which controls and reduces the effects of desertification and rehabilitates degraded lands.

Abstract. Nowadays desertification, as a global problem, affects many countries in the world, especially developing countries like Iran. With respect to increasing importance of desertification and its complexity, the necessity of attention to the optimal combating-desertification alternatives is essential. Selecting appropriate strategies according to all effective criteria to combat the desertification process can be useful in rehabilitating degraded lands and avoiding degradation in vulnerable fields. This study provides systematic and optimal strategies of combating desertification by use of a group decision-making model. To this end, the preferences of indexes were obtained through using the Delphi model, within the framework of multi-attribute decision making (MADM). Then, priorities of strategies were evaluated by using linear assignment (LA) method. According to the results, the strategies to prevent improper change of land use (A18), development and reclamation of plant cover (A23), and control overcharging of groundwater resources (A31) were identified as the most important strategies for combating desertification in this study area. Therefore, it is suggested that the aforementioned ranking results be considered in projects which control and reduce the effects of desertification and rehabilitate degraded lands.

Decision makers usually prefer to express their preferences by linguistic variables. Classic fuzzy sets allowed expressing these preferences using a single linguistic value. Considering inevitable hesitancy of decision makers, hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets allowed them to express individual evaluation using several linguistic values. Therefore, these sets improve the ability of humans to determine believes using their own language. Considering this feature, in this paper a method upon linear assignment method is proposed to solve group decision making problems using this kind of information, when criteria weights are known or unknown. The performance of the proposed method is illustrated in a numerical example and the results are compared with other methods to delineate the models efficiency. Following a logical and well-known mathematical logic along with simplicity of execution are the main advantages of the proposed method.

Abstract One of the most important operations in mining is blasting. Improper design of blasting pattern will cause technical and safety problems. Considering impact of results of blasting on next steps of mining, correct pattern selection needs a great cautiousness. In selecting of blasting pattern, technical, economical and safety aspects should be considered. Thus, most appropriate pattern selection can be defined as a Multi Attribute Decision Making (MADM) problem. Linear assignment method is one of the very applicable methods in decision making problems. In this paper, this method was used for the first time to evaluate blasting patterns in mine. In this ranking, safety and technical parameters have been considered to evaluate blasting patterns. Finally, blasting pattern with burden of 3.5 m, spacing of 4.5 m, stemming of 3.8 m and hole length of 12.1 m has been presented as the most suitable pattern obtained from linear assignment model for Sungun Copper Mine.
