Cloud computing is being heavily used for implementing different kinds of applications. Many of the client applications are being migrated to cloud for the reasons of cost and elasticity. Cloud computing is generally implemented on distributing computing wherein the Physical servers are heavily distributed considering both hardware and software, the connectivity among which is established through Internet. The cloud computing systems as such have many physical servers which contain many resources. The resources can be made to be shared among many users who are the tenants to the cloud computing system. The resources can be virtualized so as to provide shared resources to the clients. Scheduling is one of the most important task of a cloud computing system which is concerned with task scheduling, resource scheduling and scheduling Virtual Machin Migration. It is important to understand the issue of scheduling within a cloud computing system more in-depth so that any improvements with reference to scheduling can be investigated and implemented. For carrying in depth research, an OPEN source based cloud computing system is needed. OPEN STACK is one such OPEN source based cloud computing system that can be considered for experimenting the research findings that are related to cloud computing system. In this paper an overview on the way the Scheduling aspect per say has been implemented within OPEN STACK cloud computing system

NoSQL databases are designed to meet the huge data storage requirements of cloud computing and big data processing. NoSQL databases have lots of advanced features in addition to the conventional RDBMS features. Hence, the “NoSQL” databases are popularly known as “Not only SQL” databases. A variety of NoSQL databases having different features to deal with exponentially growing data-intensive applications are available with open source and proprietary option. This chapter discusses some of the popular NoSQL databases and their features on the light of CAP theorem.

Securing a cloud network is an important challenge for delivering cloud services to enterprise clouds. There are a number of secure network protocols, such as VPN protocols, currently available, to provide different secure network solutions for enterprise clouds. For example, PPTP, IPSec, and SSL/TLS are the most widely used VPN protocols in today's securing network solutions. However, there are some significant challenges in the implementation stage. For example, which VPN solution is easy to deploy in delivering cloud services? Which VPN solution is most user-friendly in enterprise clouds? This chapter explores these issues by implementing different VPNs in a virtual cloud network environment using open source software and tools. This chapter also reviews cloud computing and cloud services and looks at their relationships. The results not only provide experimental evidence but also facilitate the network implementers in deployment of secure network solutions for enterprise cloud services.

In today's world where data is accumulating at an ever-increasing rate, processing of this big data was a necessity rather than a need. This required some tools for processing as well as analysis of the data that could be achieved to obtain some meaningful result or outcome out of it. There are many tools available in market which could be used for processing of big data. But the main focus on this chapter is on Apache Hadoop which could be regarded as an open source software based framework which could be efficiently deployed for processing, storing, analyzing, and to produce meaningful insights from large sets of data. It is always said that if exponential increase of data is processing challenge then Hadoop could be considered as one of the effective solution for processing, managing, analyzing, and storing this big data. Hadoop versions and components are also illustrated in the later section of the paper. This chapter majorly focuses on the technique, methodology, components, and methodologies adopted by Apache Hadoop software framework for big data processing.

The maturity of free and open source movement has brought a number of ICT tools. It has affected the way courses are delivered, the way contents are developed, the way data are interoperable, the way learning and teaching materials are shared, the way learners access classes and the way library resources are shared. In developing countries, several libraries are migrating into digital libraries using low cost technologies readily available due to open access, free and open source technology and e-publishing tools. Recent development of cloud computing technology provides state of art tools for libraries. It provides a common platform for easy information storage and sharing. Thus, there is lowering of the cost required to procure and manage library ICT infrastructure due to the capability of that cloud computing which allows the storage to be on a single, efficient system that saves cost and time. In developing countries where most libraries suffer from limited budgets for ICT services, it is anticipated that the future of digital libraries is on cloud libraries.
