This study evaluates institutional research performance in benchmark technological universities in Taiwan through intelligent research databases (SciVal) in digital libraries with Ministry of Education open data to explore the performance of research indicators and the research trend of topic clusters to ascertain accountability for decision makers. The research performance of eight benchmark technological universities in Taiwan is compared in this study. In addition, the trends in research topics in the top 10% of journals are explored. Descriptive statistics, correlation, ANOVA, and the Boston Consulting Group matrix were used in this study. Research personnel, publications, productivity, total citations, number of international collaborations, and academic research income in 2018 significantly positively correlated with each other. From 719 records of research topics, topic clusters and school types are the significant factors in research outputs. Biosensors, electrodes, and voltammetry are the leading topic clusters in the research trend. The topic cluster of decision-making, fuzzy sets, and models has the best growth rate in the SciVal results. This analysis provides useful insights to policymakers to improve institutional administration and research resource allocation.

Background On January 8, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officially announced a new virus in Wuhan, China. The first novel coronavirus (COVID-19) case was discovered on December 1, 2019, implying that the disease was spreading quietly and quickly in the community before reaching the rest of the world. To deal with the virus’ wide spread, countries have deployed contact tracing mobile applications to control viral transmission. Such applications collect users’ information and inform them if they were in contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19. However, these applications might have affected human rights by breaching users’ privacy. Methodology This systematic literature review followed a comprehensive methodology to highlight current research discussing such privacy issues. First, it used a search strategy to obtain 808 relevant papers published in 2020 from well-established digital libraries. Second, inclusion/exclusion criteria and the snowballing technique were applied to produce more comprehensive results. Finally, by the application of a quality assessment procedure, 40 studies were chosen. Results This review highlights privacy issues, discusses centralized and decentralized models and the different technologies affecting users’ privacy, and identifies solutions to improve data privacy from three perspectives: public, law, and health considerations. Conclusions Governments need to address the privacy issues related to contact tracing apps. This can be done through enforcing special policies to guarantee users privacy. Additionally, it is important to be transparent and let users know what data is being collected and how it is being used.

This study aims to present an exploratory study about the accessibility and usability evaluation of digital library article pages. For this purpose, four widely known digital libraries (DLs), namely Science Direct, Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineering Xplore, Association for Computing Machinery, and SpringerLink, were examined. In the first stage, article web interfaces of these selected DLs were analyzed based on standard web guidelines using automatic evaluation tools to assess their accessibility. In the second stage, to evaluate the usability of these web interfaces, eye-tracking experiments with 30 participants were conducted. Obtained results of the analysis show that article pages of digital libraries are not of free of accessibility and usability problems. Overall, this study highlights accessibility and usability problems of digital library article interfaces, and these findings can provide the feedback to web developers in making their article pages more accessible and usable for their users.

If social media is about the social brag and the pose, academic social media has dedicated platforms that enable such shares: learning content sharing platforms (educational channels on social video sharing sites and social image sharing sites, learning object referatories, digital libraries, slideshow sharing sites), research sharing sites, publications and review metrics platforms, social learning sites (MOOCs, LMSes), and others. The academic social brag does not have to be negative or offending; it can be designed and harnessed to improve competition and performance among peer academics (in their social sharing), given the reliance on learner/user numbers to justify the original creation and sharing. This work explores academic social bragging across various academic social sharing platforms, dimensions for how these are judged (positively or negatively), and ways to turn academic social brags into something constructive for social-shared teaching and learning.

GitHub is the most common code hosting and repository service for open-source software (OSS) projects. Thanks to the great variety of features, researchers benefit from GitHub to solve a wide range of OSS development challenges. In this context, the authors thought that was important to conduct a literature review on studies that used GitHub data. To reach these studies, they conducted this literature review based on a GitHub dataset source study instead of a keyword-based search in digital libraries. Since GHTorrent is the most widely known GitHub dataset according to the literature, they considered the studies that cite this dataset for the systematic literature review. In this study, they reviewed the selected 172 studies according to some criteria that used the dataset as a data source. They classified them within the scope of OSS development challenges thanks to the information they extract from the metadata of studies. They put forward some issues about the dataset and they offered the focused and attention-grabbing fields and open challenges that we encourage the researchers to study on them.

This chapter intends to contribute to the analysis of the influence of corporate governance (CG) practices on company financial risk (FR) to understand the current state of CG and FR research. Although there is extensive research on CG and FR, to the best of the authors' knowledge, no recent study tries to update the current state of the research over the influence of CG practices on FR. To do so, the authors will conduct a bibliometric analysis focused on financial risk and CG studies resorting to different online available libraries. The study describes the evolutional research studies published in the digital libraries Scopus and Web of Science between 2010 and 2020 and compares the results obtained in evolutionary terms. The study ends up concentrating the bibliometric analysis in the Scopus and Web of Science databases and the keyword “financial risk,” leading to a total of 14,942 and 3,760 documents, respectively.

This paper attempts to analyze the situation of job availability in the markets for postgraduates, especially masters in geography education (M.Ed.). It also covers the scope of jobs in the markets, status of job involvement, and level of satisfaction based on qualitative research design and secondary data sources. Primary data were collection from interviews and discussions with teachers and postgraduate students of geography education. Secondary data were collection from various sources including digital libraries. The findings of this paper indicate that the postgraduate in Geography education is involved in different jobs such as teaching, educational research, administration, and educational planning in government, public and private sector institutions. Most of those who are engaged in teaching professions seem satisfied with their job. Besides, some private-sector workers are not happy with their work. Recently, the geography curriculum has offered geographic information systems (GIS), a global positioning system (GPS), and remote sensing (RS) as well as other tools and techniques. This may open ample job opportunities for geography graduates. The Department of Geography Education should be committed to producing skilled and competent man powers to fulfill market needs, and the government should make a policy arrangement to give priority in teaching, research, administration, and planning in education for the manpower produced in this subject.

Purpose: The main objective of this study is to examine the importance of digital libraries during the COVID-19 pandemic in dissemination of information services, to know the users’ perspectives towards its success and also examines the challenges faced by the libraries during this pandemic and also about how the librarians cope up with the challenges and function in the new normal situation.Methodology: An online Pan-India survey was conducted among library professionals and user communities. By using survey instrument, Google Form, a total of 12 questions were asked from general to specific towards use of digital libraries during pandemic period. Total 250 responses were received. The responses received were categorized, analyzed and presented in this paper. The research data were primarily collected from blogs, social media and online survey which were carried out among various library professionals to know their perspective towards digital libraries, new skill requirement and current challenges faced by the libraries in the new normal imposed on us due to COVID-19 pandemic.Findings: This study reveals that the library professionals are eager to learn online technologies for developing and delivering information services. It also identifies that to remain connected and to spread knowledge, large numbers of online webinars are conducted in library fields. The major challenges the librarians faced during COVID-19 are physical distancing from workplace, fear of disease contraction, Lack of high speed internet connection, low response of users in social media platforms etc.Originality/ value: This is an original study conducted in India which gives an overview on the transformation of libraries by using digital library services to meet the need of the users during COVID-19.
