Through a rhetorical and arthistorian angle the article presents the concept of style in a historical setting. This concept of style in a rethought version is applied with renewed vitality on a contemporary phenomenon, namely the culture of hiphop. The aim of the article is to show that this reinvention with advantage can be made by understanding style as an interplay between aesthetic effects, rhetorical argumentation and lifestyle on a sociological basis.
