Authors present a case report of 46 years old men with tumor of the posterior pharyngeal wall. Based on the clinical examination and MRI, the patient was qualified for surgical treatment. The patient underwent tumor resection under general anesthesia. Due to the histopathological examination of the obtained material, the diagnosis of ancient schwannoma was made.

The aim of this study was to report the outcome of the use of an external fixator to treat a pelvic canal stenosis in a 5-month-old female cat. The cat was referred with a history of 3 weeks of intermittent signs of constipation refractory to the medical management, occurring after surgical treatment for a bilateral sacroiliac luxation and sacral fracture. The clinical examination revealed instability of the pelvis and a radiograph showed a pelvic canal stenosis and megacolon. External fixator was the method of choice to be used in this case. The manually applied tension on an external fixator resulted in a widening of the pelvic canal. At 45 days after surgery, there were no signs of constipation, and the radiological examination showed progressive bone healing. At 18 months post-op, the cat had no abnormalities both on the clinical examination and on the radiography. In conclusion, the use of an external fixator led to the widening of the pelvic canal using a minimally invasive procedure. To the authors’ knowledge, this case report represents the first surgical description and clinical outcome of the widening of the pelvic canal in cats using an external skeletal fixator.

Introduction: Chronic retropharyngeal abscess can occur in the adults as well as in children. It is usually due to tuberculous infection of the cervical spine as the pus directly spreads through the anterior longitudinal ligament into the retropharyngeal space. Case report: We report a case of chronic retropharyngeal abscess in a 60-year-old woman who presented with throat pain and dysphagia. On examination there was bulging of the posterior pharyngeal wall and also right sided neck swelling. She was treated by external drainage of abscess under local anaesthesia and she recovered well with anti-tubercular drugs DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bjo.v18i2.12032 Bangladesh J Otorhinolaryngol 2012; 18(2): 242-244

AbstractObjective:We report a unique case of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour of the posterior wall of the hypopharynx.Method:We present the patient's case history, management and histopathological findings. A literature review of all cases localised to the larynx or pharynx is provided and discussed. Results:A 67-year-old man presented with airway obstruction due to a spherical mass in the hypopharynx originating from the posterior pharyngeal wall. The tumour was resected. Histopathological examination revealed an inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour. We found only five previously reported cases with pharyngeal localisation. Further treatment of the patient is described. Conclusion:Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour of the pharynx is extremely rare. It is regarded as a neoplastic tumour of intermediate biological potential. In cases with extrapulmonary localisation, the incidence of local recurrence can be as high as 25 per cent. Radical surgery is the treatment of choice; no adjuvant therapy is necessary.

ABSTRACT Case report of a posterior pharyngeal wall schwannoma in a 23-year-old female. Hypopharyngeal schwannoma is rare entities and at the time of writing we could find only 10 other cases reported worldwide and this is the eleventh. Complete excision was done intraorally and there is no recurrence after 1 year. How to cite this article Rai V, Arora N, Malhotra V, Passey JC. Posterior Pharyngeal Wall Schwannoma. we report a case of 51 year old lady, presented with complaints of hard lump in the right breast. On clinical examination lump of size 4x3cms in outer lower quadrant was noted. Ultrasonographic imaging showed evidence of 3x2cms ill dened hypoechoic lesion with spiculated margins and microcalcications. Trucut biopsy was done and histopathological report was given as Suspicious for malignancy which was followed by modied radical mastectomy with axillary clearance. Histopathological examination and Immunohistochemistry(IHC) was done.

The author describes a case of chronic exertional compartment syndrome of the foot affecting a 19-year-old male triathlete. Relevant anatomy, subjective symptoms, and clinical examination are discussed. Diagnostic confirmation, as achieved with compartment-pressure testing, is also presented, as is surgical treatment through decompressive fasciotomy of the affected compartment.

Malignant melanoma is a neoplasm of melanocytes. Primary malignant melanoma of the oronasal region is rare. When it does occur, it is difficult to manage, and the prognosis is not good. The current case was a 48 years old male patient who presented with history of sore throat, pain in left tonsillar region, hemoptysis with difficulty in swallowing. Clinical examination revealed a blackish ulcerated polypoid mass in the left palatine tonsil. Left sided tonsilectomy was done. Histopathological examination revealed primary malignant melanoma of the tonsil.TAJ 2009; 22(1): 279-281

Purpose : To report the clinical and histopathological findings of a patient who had bilateral persistent pupillary membrane with exotropia and high hyperopia. Methods : Case Report: A 7-year-old boy presented with a persistent pupillary membrane in both eyes. His best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 20/20 in the right eye and 20/32 in the left eye with exotropia of 18 prism diopters. He underwent surgical resection of both membranes. At 5 months postoperatively, BCVA was 20/20 with final bilateral refraction of +6.5 D in both eyes. Exotropia and photophobia showed improvement immediately after surgery. Histopathological examination revealed typical features of normal iris tissue in the excised membranes. Conclusion : Bilateral persistent pupillary membranes were excised successfully without injury to other ocular tissues, including the crystalline lens. Surgical treatment may be required for the management of persistent pupillary membrane associated with visual impairment such as exotropia or photophobia.

Tuberculosis is one of the major causes of ill health and death worldwide. Isolated tuberculosis of tonsil in the absence of active pulmonary tuberculosis is a very rare clinical entity. A 10-year-male child presented with recurrent episodes of upper respiratory tract infections, with 2-3 occurrences per month for the past 6 years. On general physical examination, bilateral tonsils showed grade III enlargement and congestion. Posterior pharyngeal wall was clear. Examination of the chest was within normal limits. Histopathological examination of bilateral tonsils revealed caseating and noncaseating epithelioid cell granulomas with Langhans giant cells. Ziehl-Neelsen stain for acid fast bacillus was positive. Features were consistent with a diagnosis of tuberculosis of tonsils. Tuberculosis of the oral cavity is uncommon and lesions may be either primary or secondary. Early detection and intervention is essential for cure. Isolated and primary tuberculosis of the tonsils in the absence of pulmonary tuberculosis is a rare entity, which prompted us to report this case.
