Abstract The paper discusses the problem of renewable energy sources, with particular focus put on wind energy. Special attention is paid to the development of this sector of production in Poland and selected UE countries in the recent years. Furthermore, selected legal acts and strategic document regulating the wind production market in Poland are pre4sented. At the same time the development potential of this are of energy production in Poland is discussed.

Renewable energy production needs serious attention in highly traditional, inefficient, and energy-dependent countries like Nepal. Moreover, the option of an effective renewable energy technology that is economically feasible and environmentally acceptable is a topic of interest due to the availability of various types of renewable energy sources in Nepal. Among other renewable energy sources like micro hydro, solar, biogas etc, very few studies had been conducted on wind energy sources in Nepal and those few studies also focuses mostly on large scale wind farming. So, this study analyzes the suitability of distributed wind energy production in Tila village of Jumla district in the western part of Nepal. Five-year (2015-2019) wind speed data were examined to obtain wind power density and energy density. Two-parameter Weibull probability density function was used to evaluate these two quantities. The annual Weibull parameters k and c of 1.73 and 4.21 m/s were obtained to calculate 43.79 W/m2 power density and 378.37 kWh/m2 energy density. This study also provides the economic evaluation of a 100 kW distributed wind energy system, and the technical and economic aspects of the proposed system are compared with the corresponding characteristics of the existing renewable energy systems, i.e., micro hydropower and solar power. The study shows that when there is not enough sunlight for the solar PV system and not enough water flow coupled with maintenance problems in the micro hydropower system, the distributed wind energy system may function as a substitute system.

The article highlights the feasibility of using dual-current systems in ship electrical power systems in conditions of using renewable energy sources. The charts of energy resources of solar and wind energy in Russia have been presented and analyzed. The feasibility of using wind energy in the northern and eastern regions and solar energy in the southern regions has been discussed. Alternative sources on dry-cargo ships, tankers and bulk barges may well provide propulsion energy. Operation of traditional energy sources together with the alternative ones in a combined ship electric power system is provided by the system of dual current type with built-in DC network. The test results of the pilot plant which allows parallel operation of different generators in a dual current system have been described. The experiments included the parallel operation of one generator; load distribution between parallel-running synchronous generators, asynchronous generators, between synchronous and asynchronous generators; load transfer and decommissioning of one of the generators. Parallel operation was carried out on DC network. The load transfer of the synchronous generator can be carried out by changing excitation current, and asynchronous generator - by changing frequency of rotation of the drive motor. It has been found out that the DC network allows: to connect various sources for parallel operation in terms of power, statism, and type of current; to regulate loading by changing the moment on a shaft of the driving engine; to fulfil easier switching to the “built-in” DC network of renewable energy sources.

In recent years, decreasing reserves and environmental problems related with fossil fuels have increased the demand for clean and renewable energy sources, as with all over the world and also in Turkey. Wind energy is the one of the most rapidly growing among the renewable energy sources in terms of technological and utilization. Turkey is one of the rich countries in Europe in respect to wind energy potential. Productive and effective use of this potential is very important for Turkey that is depended on foreign countries especially in respect to fossil energy sources. Wind speed values are the most important data in calculation of electrical energy from wind turbines. In this study, latest developments and energy-power equations related to wind turbines are investigated. Using of the data obtained from the wind measurement station installed in Sakarya-Esentepe region, annual electrical energy production of an example wind plant is predicted.
