The paper presents the results of studies on the microstructure, chemical composition and mechanical properties of the Ni/SnAuCu/Ni interconnections obtained due to the conventional soldering at 300 °C for different times and subsequent aging at 150 °C. The EDX microanalysis allowed to detect at the Ni/solder interface the (Ni,Cu,Au)3Sn4phase which transformed to (Cu,Ni,Au)6Sn5after longer time of soldering. In the central part of the interconnection AuSn4brittle phase was present. This phase was responsible for the significant decrease of the shear strength in the joints subjected to aging at 150 °C for 1000h, 1500 hours. The fracture behavior of such joints appeared to be caused partly by the coalescence of the microvoids in the bulk solder, cleavage of η-phase grains and decohesion at the interface.

The chemical composition and production process of a new kind of enameling steel sheet used for heat-exchanger were introduced. The microstructure, mechanical property and hydrogen permeation resistance of the steel sheet were studied. The enameling adherence and pin-hole ratio of the enameled steel sheet were measured. The results show that the microstructure is ferrite with the grain size of grade 11 and quantities of linear MnS inclusions, grainy manganese-niobium composite oxides and small NbC precipitates are formed in the steel. The average value of hydrogen permeation resistance of the steel is 33 min·mm-2, the enameling adherence is evaluated as level A1and the number of the pin-hole defects in the enameled steel is less than 10 per square meter. Both mechanical property and enameling quality of the steel sheet meet the technical demand of heat-exchanger.

Dual Phase (DP) steel sheets, mainly 590 MPa TS grade steel, have been applied to structural parts of automobile because of their good formability, large bake hardenability and high crash worthiness. Although the concept of DP steel was established as early as the mid-1970th, the literature contains little discussion of Zn-coated DP steel, which has been the main application in recent years. In manufacturing Zn-coated DP steel, chemical composition which secures adequate Zn coatability and appropriate heat cycles, including galvannealing, must be considered. In this paper, the effect of Nb on the tensile properties, stretch flange formability and bake hardenability of 590 MPa TS grade DP steel is discussed. The base chemical composition was 0.05%C-2%Mn-0.5%Cr steel. The effect of Nb on the above-mentioned properties was studied using 0.05%Nb added steel and found that the addition of 0.05%Nb results in improved elongation, stretch flangeability and bake hardenability with higher tensile strength under both simulated GA and GI heat cycles. These improved properties by the addition of Nb are brought about by the grain refinement of ferrite matrix and finer dispersion of martensite.
