Perhaps no area of yachting has reached harder for technology, and grasped less, than sail shape design. The combination of the obsession with secrecy, the background and training of those in the business, the economic characteristics of the marketplace, and the intractability of the problems is formidable and has made scientific sail engineering a grail. This paper will not solve those problems; rather it reports on an attempt to begin an attack on the fundamental problems and to report the outcome. Thus, the paper will: - describe the fundamentals of the sail shape design problem so that practical sailors can, with some study, grasp the nature and difficulty of the problem to the extent that claims can be evaluated thoughtfully; and - report on a research program intended to put the art onto a solid engineering basis by formulating the problem and beginning work on solutions.

The research program builds on the environmental labour market from the gender point of view, to ask whether and how the development of the green economy, and related green jobs and green skills, can represent an opportunity to increase female employment. If you stop at the obvious response that the already low female employment is still lower in most environmental sectors and professions that deal with environment, you do two wrong things; the first consists in considering as given and unchangeable, a situation of sex-typing work and training that has produced and continues to produce occupational segregation, both horizontal and vertical. The second wrong thing is based on the stereotype that green economy and subsequent occupation will relate mainly to the exercise of purely technical skills.

In view of well- designed office desk is advantageous to alleviating fatigue, the author analyzes the category of office desk, and combining the design problem of existing office desk which exists in using function, art function and material technique function and others, discusses the shape design, the color design and the man-machine factors of office desk. Among them the man-machine factors mainly elaborate the height design of desktop, the depth design of desktop and other designs. Then the possibility is analyzed. On this foundation, the design practice of new type office desk is done.
