Resumo: O litoral cearense do Nordeste brasileiro já registra várias experiências exitosas de turismo comunitário. Porém, o governo do estado continua preterindo esse potencial e subsidiando a instalação de megaempreendimentos que geram poucos empregos com baixas remunerações. Assim, as comunidades litorâneas que protagonizam o turismo comunitário ficam duplamente penalizadas, pois são deixadas à margem das políticas de turismo e seus territórios viram alvos da cobiça de visitantes atraídos pelo marketing dos investimentos públicos realizados. Tomando como estudo de caso a comunidade de Tatajuba, no município de Camocim, no Ceará, este artigo analisa a luta dos povos do mar pelo território, luta essa que não se traduz apenas na defesa do espaço de vivência, mas também na formação de uma rede de territórios solidários articulados ao mundo, que resiste/inova com a proposta do turismo comunitário.  Palavras-chave: Turismo. Tatajuba. DISPUTED TERRITORY ON THE COAST OF CEARÁ: THE STRENGTH AND INNOVATION OF COMMUNITY TOURISM ON THE ACTIONS AND CONTRADICTIONS OF STATEAbstract: The cearense coast of Northeastern Brazil already registers several successful experiences of Community tourism. However, the state government is still neglecting this potential and subsidizing the installation of mega-enterprises that generate few jobs with low pay. Thus, the coastal communities who star the community tourism are doubly penalized because they are abandoned by tourism policies and their territories become targets of greed of visitors attracted by the marketing of public investments. Taking as a case study the community of Tatajuba, in Camocim (municipality, Ceará, Brazil), this article examines the struggle of the peoples of the sea through the territory. Purpose The purpose of this study is to fill a knowledge gap by analyzing the motivations of tenants to co-living spaces in Klang Valley, Malaysia as the motives of co-living spaces are related to how well that space supports their needs. Design/methodology/approach Tenants’ behaviors were examined using a convergent parallel mixed-method approach, which included a survey and an in-depth interview. A total of 175 respondents were interviewed using purposive sampling. Findings The results show that the preference for co-living attributes has changed during the pandemic. User ratings of preference for physical and leasing attributes of co-living spaces are significant in terms of co-living motivations. The findings also revealed that tenants prefer twin-sharing and master bedrooms when choosing a co-living space to stay in. Research limitations/implications Identifying the factors that influence such motivations is critical for housing developers and co-living service providers to pay close attention to improving tenants’ living experiences. Originality/value There is interest in the co-living spaces that are available for rent. However, very little research is based on an understanding of how the tenants in Klang Valley, Malaysia perceive this type of living arrangement. A better understanding and prediction of tenants’ needs and preferences may lead to a better understanding of the attributes that influence their motivations for using co-living spaces.

The Patagoniansteppe is a cultural landscape which is constantly being recreated by man. In this case study, peridomestic forestation oftree species was analysed in a small community, including the richness of plants used and the reasons behind their choice.In the Mapuche population of Pilkiniyeu del Limay (Río Negro) free and semi-structured interviews were carried out with28 interviewees. The data was analysed using both uni- and multivariate methods. Results indicate that nine exotic speciesare used. These forested areas, used for meetings and recreation, provide useful living space and are of great socialimportance. The principal motivation behind this forestation is the need for materials for building fences (96%), toprovide shelter from the elements (86%), firewood (43%), and cattle fodder (11%). The MSD revealed a shared valuesystem with respect to the forestation. The traditional ecological knowledge that people use in the selection and use offirewood species does not seem to have an influence on choices made when planting trees around their homes. This couldindicate that forestation is a general practice deeply rooted and influenced by the oblique transmission carried out byexternal agriculture agents who visit and offer help to this community.

In order to promote the development of the zero-energy buildings, the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon is held biennially, in which every team is required to design, build and operate an energy-efficient house powered by the sun. This paper is focused on the innovative passive design in the Solar Decathlon 2011 in following five categories: the indoor and outdoor space, the envelop, the ecological system as well as the shading structure. Based on the case studies, it is suggested that the solar house is emphasizing more flexible living space, the multifunctional envelop and the ecological landscape.

This paper will present a few of the results of qualitative, case study research conducted among students in six cities in Central and Eastern Europe. It will describe the use of images in interviews and how this enabled digging beyond cultural, customary religious belief to uncover a search for ultimate meaning and spirituality. A summary of the findings regarding the emerging values of the young people and their descriptions of what is significant to them in life will be related to Savage, Collins-Mayo and Mayo's research conducted in the UK, specifically to their theories of formative and transformative spirituality and the happy midi-narrative. The tension between a young person's actual situation and their dream about their ideal life will be discussed in terms of the research findings regarding the students' use of celebrity images in their living space. The young people's values, as they emerged from the research, will be contrasted with the values and practices of churches in this region, as seen through the young people's perceptions of traditional church and as articulated by local church leaders. The paper will include a short analysis of the current religious situation in former Soviet countries in light of the finding of the research..

Learning outcomes The key learning objectives are mentioned as follows: to understand the attractiveness of the co-living sector using Michael Porter’s five forces model; to do competitive analysis of ZOLO by understanding its objectives, strengths and weaknesses; to understand various competitive strategies which ZOLO’s competitors could apply against it; and to understand application of various defense strategies, which ZOLO would follow to retain its market leader position. Case overview/synopsis ZoloStays (ZOLO) was an Indian real-tech start-up based in Bengaluru. It was in the business of co-living, i.e. providing affordable accommodation for students and young professionals who had to leave their home and temporarily settle in other cities in search for jobs or education. ZOLO had grown 300% and had served over 50,000 customers across 10 Indian cities, since its inception in 2015. It had claimed to be the largest co-living brand in India in FY 2019. Nikhil Sikri (Sikri), who was a Co-founder of ZOLO, had big plans of expanding the firm to a million beds in 5 years. However, increasing awareness of a huge untapped market in the co-living sector had led to entry of a flurry of competitors. Notable among them were Nestaway, Colive, StayAbode, CoHo and OYO Life. Facing such intense competition Sikri had the challenge to be able to sustain his company’s early momentum. How would he retain ZOLO’s market leadership position? What would be the best strategy to achieve further growth? Should ZOLO diversify into allied services or apply a more focused strategy? Sikri was facing all these challenging questions and had to quickly address them to continue to lead in this competitive race. Complexity/academic level The case can be taught in advanced undergraduate, MBA or executive-level programs dealing with marketing. This case study helps students in dealing with issues pertaining to a given market sector where a firm is operating, the strategies that could be used by the competitors and application of competitive strategies which the firm can apply.
