Floristic-phytocenological research of weed vegetation in vineyards of Bosnia and Herzegovina determined a new association Convolvulo-Polygonetumaviculare (ass. new). Regarding floristic character, the asso­ciation was qualified by numerous thermophilic species, and it was ranked in the mediterranean syntaxonomic unit DiplotaxionBr.-Bl. 1931 em 1936 from ordo ChenopodietaliamediterraneaBr.-Bl. 1931 em 1936. Stands association builds 56 plant species. A complete set of association is built by five species: ConvolvulusarvensisL., PolygonumaviculareL., Cynodondactylon (L.) Pers., PortulacaoleraceaL. and ChenopodiumalbumL. Biological spectrum of association shows dominance of hemi­therophytes (62,50%) and hemikryptophytes which together make up 85,71% of the species. Gradient analysis shows very little dependence of floristic composition in relation to soil moisture medium rich in minerals. The value of the coefficient of correlation points a relatively high degree of dependence floristic composition in comparison to the gradient of light and temperature. Areal spectrum of associations suggests the dominance of cosmopolitan and mediterranean group of floral elements. By means of numerical classification and ordination of stands, there may be distin­guished two groups of stands.

Carici-Genistetea lobelii Klein 1972 corresponds to cyrno-sardinian oromediterranean cushion scrub and related grasslands. In France, this class is only present in Corsica and the syntaxonomic scheme is debated among phytosociologists. The aim of this paper is to highlight the main plant associations of Carici-Genistetea lobelii Klein 1972 and to define the diagnostic species for each phytosociological unit. We compiled 519 vegetation plots and we applied EuropeanVegetationChecklist expert system for the classes of European vegetation to retain only vegetation plots belonging to Carici-Genistetea lobelii. We obtained a dataset with 189 vegetation plots and we classified them with Modified TWINSPAN classification. Our analyses recognized 6 plant associations and 3 sub-associations already described in the literature; and to describe a new alliance corresponding to the supra-mediterranean vegetations (Genistion salzmannii), a new association (Brimeuro fastigiatae-Juniperetum nanae) and its sub-association (alnetosum suaveolentis). For each of them, we identified diagnostic, constant and dominant species and produced their distribution map. Formal definitions were then written for each phytosociological unit (from subassociation to class) and grouped in an expert system to automatically classify the vegetations of Carici-Genistetea lobelii.

A vegetation survey of the Witbank Nature Reserve, comprising 847 hectares, was conducted. Phytosociological data were used to identify plant communities, as well as to determine alpha and beta diversities. Eleven plant communities were recognised, two of these are subdivided into sub- communities, resulting in 14 vegetation units. These communities represent four main vegetation types, namely grassland, woodland, wetland and disturbed vegetation. Grassland communities have the highest plant diversity and wetland vegetation the lowest. Floristic composition indicates that the vegetation of the Rocky Highveld Grassland has affinities to the grassland and savanna biomes and also to the Afromontane vegetation of the Great Escarpment. An ordination scatter diagram shows the distribution of the 14 plant communities or sub-communities along a soil moisture gradient, as well as along a soil depth/surface rock gradient. The sequence of communities along the soil moisture gradient is used for calculating beta-diversity indices. It is concluded that the relatively small size of the Witbank Nature Reserve is unlikely to have significant negative effects on the phytodiversity of the various plant communities. This nature reserve is therefore of considerable importance in conserving a representative sample of the Rocky Highveld Grassland.

Ecological and floristic characteristics of the new subassociation of the Balkan beech and Greek maple plant community with hornbeam (Aceri heldreichii-Fagetum subass. carpinetosum betuli) were studied. This subassociation is recorded and described on Mt. Rudnik, where it occurs at the elevations 950- 1,050 m, on moderate to steep inclinations (10-30?), and cold aspects: northern, northwestern and northeastern. Bedrock consists of sandstones and mudstones. The biological spectrum, ecological spectra and spectrum of distribution types of this community were calculated. The community has phanerophyte-hemicryptophyte character, it is mesophilous regarding soil moisture requirements and temperature requirements, it is neutrophilous to soil acidity, according to light requirements it is tolerant to semi-tolerant. The most numerous group of distribution types is Central European, which confirms the mesophilous character of this community.

Inappropriate use and management of land has generated processes of environmental degradation, in which the increasing removal of forest coverage has impaired the hydrological cycle, water and soil quality. The objective of this work is to know the effects of the protection of the spring, and the initial part of its watercourse, on the environmental conditions in a family property. The study was carried out on the property located in the Rainha da Paz Community, in Alegre-ES, using indicators used for environmental monitoring, at the beginning in September 2013 and after one year (September 2014) of the Water Planters Project. The quality indicators used in the evaluation clearly show that the initial situation in the spring APP, and APP around the main watercourse was inadequate, in several indicators mainly due to the occupation of the area with agricultural use, specifically pasture, occurring cattle trampling within a radius of 50 meters of the spring's permanent preservation area, causing soil compaction and silting, showing a high degree of degradation, reflecting the lack of environmental adequacy, thus not complying with current environmental legislation. The project promoted improvements in the environmental conditions of the family property, through the natural regeneration of native species, bringing gains to the floristic composition, in addition to improvements in the soil conditions.
