Various analytical approaches to performance-based seismic design are in development. Based on the current Chinese seismic codes, elastic capacity calculation under frequent earthquake and ductile details of seismic design shall be performed for whether seismic design of new buildings or seismic evaluation of existing buildings to satisfy the seismic fortification criterion “no damage under frequent earthquake, repairable under fortification earthquake, no collapse under severe earthquake”. However, for some special buildings which dissatisfy with the requirements of current building codes, elastic capacity calculation under frequent earthquake is obviously not enough. In this paper, the advanced performance-based seismic theory is introduced to solve the problems of seismic evaluation and strengthening for existing reinforced concrete structures, in which story drift ratio and deformation of components are used as performance targets. By combining the features of Chinese seismic codes, a set of performance-based seismic design method is established for reinforced concrete structures. Different calculation methods relevant to different seismic fortification criterions are adopted in the proposed method, which solve the problems of seismic evaluation for reinforced concrete structures.

Reinforced concrete elements of structures in the form of columns, beams, ceilings are widely used in the construction of buildings and structures of industrial and civil construction. In most cases, the columns serve as supports for other building elements, for example, crossbars, slabs, girders, beams. One of the cycles of the work of reinforced concrete structures is the state of their repair and reconstruction, including the stages of strengthening the elements. There is a problem of strengthening of reinforced concrete columns. The article deals with the issue of reinforcing columns and other structural elements having a cylindrical surface, with polymeric composite materials in the form of carbon fiber lamellae. The use of composite materials allows to increase the service life and strength of reinforced concrete structures used in construction.

Abstract The current paper studies the effect of superior eigen-modes on the seismic response for a series of reinforced concrete structures having eigen-periods near code control periods. Although the structural design is based on Romanian seismic design codes (“P100-1/2013 - Seismic design code - Part 1 - Design provisions for buildings” and “SR-EN 1998/2004 - Design of structures for earthquake resistance”), it carries some importance for other countries with similar seismic design spectra. A total of twenty-four models for structures were considered by varying their location (through control period values), three-dimensional regularity, overall dimensions and height regime. Results were compared and conclusions were drawn based on percentage values of relative displacements (storey drifts) and base shear forces.

Comparative analysis of calculations of calculation numerical models for pulling out embedded parts in reinforced concrete structures is carried out. Based on the results of numerical modeling, new information about the stress-strain state in reinforced concrete elements from the local action of the tensile force has been obtained.
