AbstractWe concentrate on a category of singular boundary value problems of fractional differential equations with integral boundary conditions, in which the nonlinear function f is singular at $t=0$ t = 0 , 1. We use Banach’s fixed-point theorem and Hölder’s inequality to verify the existence and uniqueness of a solution. Moreover, also we prove the existence of solutions by Krasnoselskii’s and Schaefer’s fixed point theorems.

This paper presents a precorrected-FFT (pFFT) accelerated singular boundary method (SBM) for acoustic radiation and scattering in the high-frequency regime. The SBM is a boundary-type collocation method, which is truly free of mesh and integration and easy to program. However, due to the expensive CPU time and memory requirement in solving a fully-populated interpolation matrix equation, this method is usually limited to low-frequency acoustic problems. A new pFFT scheme is introduced to overcome this drawback. Since the models with lots of collocation points can be calculated by the new pFFT accelerated SBM (pFFT-SBM), high-frequency acoustic problems can be simulated. The results of numerical examples show that the new pFFT-SBM possesses an obvious advantage for high-frequency acoustic problems.

In this paper, we study the semidiscrete approximation of the solution of a nonlinear diffusion equation with nonlinear source and singular boundary flux. We find some conditions under which the solution of the semidiscrete form quenches in a finite time and estimate its semidiscrete quenching time. We also establish the convergence of the semidiscrete quenching time to the theoretical one when the mesh size tends to zero. Finally, we give some numerical experiments for a best illustration of our analysis.

Abstract In a 1+1 dimensional QFT on a circle, we consider the von Neumann entanglement entropy of an interval for typical pure states. As a function of the interval size, we expect a Page curve in the entropy. We employ a specific ensemble average of pure states, and show how to write the ensemble-averaged Rényi entropy as a path integral on a singular replicated geometry. Assuming that the QFT is a conformal field theory with a gravitational dual, we then use the holographic dictionary to obtain the Page curve. For short intervals the thermal saddle is dominant. For large intervals (larger than half of the circle size), the dominant saddle connects the replicas in a non-trivial way using the singular boundary geometry. The result extends the ‘island conjecture’ to a non-evaporating setting.
