Abstract New data on 3-amino-1,2,4-benzotriazine 1,4-dioxide (tirapazamine) fluorescence has been obtained using the Perkin–Elmer UV-vis-NIR spectrophotometer Lambda 950 experimental technique in combination with the extensive DFT-theory approach. Based on the results obtained, we revealed that theoptical properties of the molecule under study remain significantly unchanged when the number of oxygen substitutions decreases from 2 to 0. Here we also present the results of the study of the influence of acetonitrile and ethyl acetate on the fluorescence of tirapazamine with the different number of oxygen atoms. Results of our investigation indicate the formation of anion in the case of 3-amino-1,2,4-benzotriazine 1,4-dioxide with two oxygen atoms and their transformation to tirapazamine with one oxygen atom.

The beginnings of the field of experimental phonetics can be traced back to the second half of the nineteenth century, when (among others) palatography, initiated by an English dentist, started an important new trend in phonetics. This paper outlines the evolution of this revolutionary experimental technique, discusses its two types, direct (static vs. natural) and indirect palatography, and describes the materials and procedures that researchers used. Hungarian scholars, Balassa, Gombocz, Csűry and Hegedűs, were among the very first who used palatography, ahead of many other European researchers. This paper highlights their methodological achievements and some of their findings obtained in studying the articulation of Hungarian vowels and consonants using palatography.

Abstract Creative thinking skills are vital in physics knowledge as in physics knowledge equal through investigation arrangements on attentions accomplishment subsequently sensing, articulating difficulties, gathering information, dispensation and seeing information, and concluding. This study drives to enhance Sundanese students’ creative thinking skills on physics by the ICARE model through Rasch Analysis. The investigate technique used a pre-experimental technique with one group pretest-posttest design for ten grade pupils (10 boys and 12 girls) and exploitation Rasch analysis to portion the person consistency with bubble chart and variable wright map. The instrument was based on indicators by Torrance. Informations were composed through pretest and posttest to amount creative thinking skills and person consistency on students. The outcomes displayed that ICARE model influenced creative thinking skills through the middling score of 0.61 characterized as intermediate. It can be decided that ICARE model is one of the erudition models that can stimulus and enhance students’ creative thinking skills on physics ideas.

Abstract A newly developed experimental technique based on 169Tm-containing cryogenic bolometer detector was employed in order to perform the search for solar axions. The inclusion of target material into the active detector volume allowed for significant increase in sensitivity to axion parameters. A short 6.6 days measurement campaign with 8.18 g detector crystal yielded the following limits on axion couplings: | g A γ ( g A N 0 + g A N 3 ) ≤ 1.44 × 10 − 14 GeV − 1 and | g A e ( g A N 0 + g A N 3 ) ≤ 2.81 × 10 − 16 . The achieved results demonstrate high scalability potential of presented experimental approach.

An idea is presented in which passive gamma emission tomography of irradiated nuclear fuel is developed to enable quantitative information of the spatial activity distribution of selected isotopes within the fuel rods of the assembly. The idea is based on using well-known calibration sources mounted in the measurement device during measurement. The image reconstruction would include the sources, thereby enable quantification of the activity distribution. Should the idea be proven viable, the outcome would be valuable to the global community dealing with characterisation of nuclear fuel in terms of safety, security, safeguards and fuel development.

Much has changed since the introduction of surgical valve repair in the 1950s, from the introduction bioprosthetic valves to percutaneous approaches to valve repair. Yet, despite substantial advancements in bioprosthetic valve technology, there has been a lack of direct, independent comparison between bioprosthetic mitral valve devices, accompanied by a marked heterogeneity in approaches to the sizing and selection thereof. Wang et al. have hence endeavoured to evaluate, head-to-head, the technical successes and biomechanical outcomes associated with three different bioprosthetic mitral valves (Epic, Abbott, IL; Mosaic, Medtronic, MN; Mitris Resilia, Edwards Lifesciences, CA) in a porcine model, under standardised haemodynamic and anatomical conditions. With a robust experimental technique, they have made clear the heterogeneity in both sizing and biomechanical properties between bioprosthetic mitral valves, and have further emphasised the need for a uniform approach to the manufacturing and sizing of bioprosthetic valves.
