This paper presents a new method for semantic parsing with upper ontologies using FrameNet annotations and BERT-based sentence context distributed representations. The proposed method leverages WordNet upper ontology mapping and PropBank-style semantic role labeling and it is designed for long text parsing. Given a PropBank, FrameNet and WordNet-labeled corpus, a model is proposed that annotates the set of semantic roles with upper ontology concept names. These annotations are used for the identification of predicates and arguments that are relevant for virtual reality simulators in a 3D world with a built-in physics engine. It is shown that state-of-the-art results can be achieved in relation to semantic role labeling with upper ontology concepts. Additionally, a manually annotated corpus was created using this new method and is presented in this study. It is suggested as a benchmark for future studies relevant to semantic parsing.

AbstractThe aim of converting relational database into Ontology is to provide applications that are based on the semantic representation of the data. Whereas, representing the data using ontologies has shown to be a useful mechanism for managing and exchanging data. This is the reason why bridging the gap between relational databases and ontologies has attracted the interest of the ontology community from early years, and it is commonly referred to as the database-to-ontology mapping problem. In this paper, we: (1) propose a new life cycle for ontology learning from RDBs based on the software engineering requirements; (2) describe a new method for building ontology from Relational database based on the predefined life cycle; (3) add three new semantics that can be extracted from RDB; (4) we suggest an evaluation process based on two categories of metrics: (i) conceptual ontology (TBox) evaluation metrics; (ii) factual ontology (ABox) evaluation metrics.

Meta-heuristics are used as a tool for ontology mapping process in order to improve their performance in mapping quality and computational time. In this article, ontology mapping is resolved as an optimization problem. It aims at optimizing correspondences discovery between similar concepts of source and target ontologies. For better guiding and accelerating the concepts correspondences discovery, the article proposes a meta-heuristic hybridization which incorporates the Hill Climbing method within the mutation operator in the genetic algorithm. For test concerns, syntactic and lexical similarities are used to validate correspondences in candidate mappings. The obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposition for improving mapping performances in quality and computational time even for large OAEI ontologies.

Ontology Based Data Access (OBDA) is a recently proposed approach which is able to provide a conceptual view on relational data sources. It addresses the problem of the direct access to big data through providing end-users with an ontology that goes between users and sources in which the ontology is connected to the data via mappings. We introduced the languages used to represent the ontologies and the mapping assertions technique that derived the query answering from sources. Query answering is divided into two steps: (i) Ontology rewriting, in which the query is rewritten with respect to the ontology into new query; (ii) mapping rewriting the query that obtained from previous step reformulating it over the data sources using mapping assertions. In this survey, we aim to study the earlier works done by other researchers in the fields of ontology, mapping and query answering over data sources.
