The following result of G. Pisier contributed to the appearance of this paper: if a convolution operator ★f : M(G) → C(G), where $G$ is a compact Abelian group, can be factored through a Hilbert space, then f has the absolutely summable set of Fourier coefficients. We give some generalizations of the Pisier's result to the cases of factorizations of operators through the operators from the Lorentz-Schatten classes Sp,q in Hilbert spaces both in scalar and in vector-valued cases. Some applications are given.

A mixed graph is said to be integral if all the eigenvalues of its Hermitian adjacency matrix are integer. Let $\Gamma$ be an abelian group. The mixed Cayley graph $Cay(\Gamma,S)$ is a mixed graph on the vertex set $\Gamma$ and edge set $\left\{ (a,b): b-a\in S \right\}$, where $0\not\in S$. We characterize integral mixed Cayley graph $Cay(\Gamma,S)$ over an abelian group $\Gamma$ in terms of its connection set $S$.

Let H be a subgroup of a finite non-abelian group G and g∈G. Let Z(H,G)={x∈H:xy=yx,∀y∈G}. We introduce the graph ΔH,Gg whose vertex set is G\Z(H,G) and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if x∈H or y∈H and [x,y]≠g,g−1, where [x,y]=x−1y−1xy. In this paper, we determine whether ΔH,Gg is a tree among other results. We also discuss about its diameter and connectivity with special attention to the dihedral groups.

We count the ordered sum-free triplets of subsets in the group $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$, i.e., the triplets $(A,B,C)$ of sets $A,B,C \subset \mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$ for which the equation $a+b=c$ has no solution with $a\in A$, $b \in B$ and $c \in C$. Our main theorem improves on a recent result by Semchankau, Shabanov, and Shkredov using a different and simpler method. Our proof relates previous results on the number of independent sets of regular graphs by Kahn; Perarnau and Perkins; and Csikvári to produce explicit estimates on smaller order terms. We also obtain estimates for the number of sum-free triplets of subsets in a general abelian group.

Abstract Given an integer $g>2$ , we state necessary and sufficient conditions for a finite Abelian group to act as a group of automorphisms of some compact nonorientable Riemann surface of genus g. This result provides a new method to obtain the symmetric cross-cap number of Abelian groups. We also compute the least symmetric cross-cap number of Abelian groups of a given order and solve the maximum order problem for Abelian groups acting on nonorientable Riemann surfaces.

We introduce a measure of dimensionality of an Abelian group. Our definition of dimension is based on studying perpendicularity relations in an Abelian group. For G ≅ ℤn, dimension and rank coincide but in general they are different. For example, we show that dimension is sensitive to the overall dimensional structure of a finite or finitely generated Abelian group, whereas rank ignores the torsion subgroup completely.

The Victoria equation, a generalization of De Moivre’s formula in 1+n dimensional scator algebra, is inverted to obtain the roots of a scator. For the qth root in S1+n of a real or a scator number, there are qn possible roots. For n=1, the usual q complex roots are obtained with their concomitant cyclotomic geometric interpretation. For n≥2, in addition to the previous roots, new families arise. These roots are grouped according to two criteria: sets satisfying Abelian group properties under multiplication and sets catalogued according to director conjugation. The geometric interpretation is illustrated with the roots of unity in S1+2.

Let $G$ be an abelian group with identity $e$. Let $R$ be a $G$-graded commutative ring with identity, $M$ a graded $R$-module and $S\subseteq h(R)$ a multiplicatively closed subset of $R$. In this paper, we introduce the concept of graded $S$-prime submodules of graded modules over graded commutative rings. We investigate some properties of this class of graded submodules and their homogeneous components. Let $N$ be a graded submodule of $M$ such that $(N:_{R}M)\cap S=\emptyset $. We say that $N$ is \textit{a graded }$S$\textit{-prime submodule of }$M$ if there exists $s_{g}\in S$ and whenever $a_{h}m_{i}\in N,$ then either $s_{g}a_{h}\in (N:_{R}M)$ or $s_{g}m_{i}\in N$ for each $a_{h}\in h(R) $ and $m_{i}\in h(M).$

Let [Formula: see text] be an extension of a finite characteristically simple group by an abelian group or a finite simple group. It is shown that every Coleman automorphism of [Formula: see text] is an inner automorphism. Interest in such automorphisms arises from the study of the normalizer problem for integral group rings.
