A large family of new α-weighted group entropy functionals is defined and associated Fisher-like metrics are considered. All these notions are well-suited semi-Riemannian tools for the geometrization of entropy-related statistical models, where they may act as sensitive controlling invariants. The main result of the paper establishes a link between such a metric and a canonical one. A sufficient condition is found, in order that the two metrics be conformal (or homothetic). In particular, we recover a recent result, established for α=1 and for non-weighted relative group entropies. Our conformality condition is “universal”, in the sense that it does not depend on the group exponential.

An old conjecture of Furstenberg asserted that any planar line <inline-formula><tex-math id="M8">\begin{document}$ L $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> not parallel to either axis must intersect <inline-formula><tex-math id="M9">\begin{document}$ C $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> in Hausdorff dimension at most <inline-formula><tex-math id="M10">\begin{document}$ \max\{\dim C,1\} - 1 $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula>. Two recent works by Shmerkin and Wu have given two different proofs of this conjecture. This note provides a third proof. Like Wu's, it stays close to the ergodic theoretic machinery that Furstenberg introduced to study such questions, but it uses less substantial background from ergodic theory. The same method is also used to re-prove a recent result of Yu about certain sequences of sums.</p>

In this paper, motivated by the recent result of Sezen, we introduce the notion of fuzzy triple controlled bipolar metric space and prove some fixed point results in this framework. Our results generalize and extend some of the well-known results from the literature. We also explore some of the applications of our key results to integral equations.

We count the ordered sum-free triplets of subsets in the group $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$, i.e., the triplets $(A,B,C)$ of sets $A,B,C \subset \mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$ for which the equation $a+b=c$ has no solution with $a\in A$, $b \in B$ and $c \in C$. Our main theorem improves on a recent result by Semchankau, Shabanov, and Shkredov using a different and simpler method. Our proof relates previous results on the number of independent sets of regular graphs by Kahn; Perarnau and Perkins; and Csikvári to produce explicit estimates on smaller order terms. We also obtain estimates for the number of sum-free triplets of subsets in a general abelian group.

Abstract It is well-known that a BKP tau-function is the square root of a certain KP tau-function, provided one puts the even KP times equal to zero. In this paper we compute for all polynomial BKP tau-function its corresponding KP ”square”. We also give, in the polynomial case, a representation theoretical proof of a recent result by Alexandov, viz. that a KdV tau-function becomes a BKP tau-function when one divides all KdV times by 2.

<p>Jack polynomials are useful in mathematical statistics, but they are awkward to calculate, and their uses have chiefly been theoretical. In this thesis a determinantal expansion of Jack polynomials in elementary symmetric polynomials is found, complementing a recent result in the literature on expansions as determinants in monomial symmetric functions. These results offer enhanced possibilities for the calculation of these polynomials, and for finding workable approximations to them. The thesis investigates the structure of the determinants concerned, finding which terms can be expected to dominate, and quantifying the sparsity of the matrices involved. Expressions are found for the elementary and monomial symmetric polynomials when the variates involved assume the form of arithmetic and geometric progressions. The latter case in particular is expected to facilitate the construction of algorithms suitable for approximating Jack polynomials.</p>

Abstract We consider the problem of describing the lattices of compact ℓ {\ell} -ideals of Abelian lattice-ordered groups. (Equivalently, describing the spectral spaces of Abelian lattice-ordered groups.) It is known that these lattices have countably based differences and admit a Cevian operation. Our first result says that these two properties are not sufficient: there are lattices having both countably based differences and Cevian operations, which are not representable by compact ℓ {\ell} -ideals of Abelian lattice-ordered groups. As our second result, we prove that every completely normal distributive lattice of cardinality at most ℵ 1 {\aleph_{1}} admits a Cevian operation. This complements the recent result of F. Wehrung, who constructed a completely normal distributive lattice having countably based differences, of cardinality ℵ 2 {\aleph_{2}} , without a Cevian operation.
