Abstract We perform the quantisation of antisymmetric tensor-spinors (fermionic p-forms) $$ {\psi}_{\mu_1\dots {\mu}_p}^{\alpha } $$ ψ μ 1 … μ p α using the Batalin-Vilkovisky field-antifield formalism. Just as for the gravitino (p = 1), an extra propagating Nielsen-Kallosh ghost appears in quadratic gauges containing a differential operator. The appearance of this ‘third ghost’ is described within the BV formalism for arbitrary reducible gauge theories. We then use the resulting spectrum of ghosts and the Atiyah-Singer index theorem to compute gravitational anomalies.

A method is proposed for calculating the normal compaction curve of rocks for the deep parts of the lithosphere. It is based on the analysis of petrophysical characteristics and interpretation of gravitational anomalies. The main regularities of density changes in the lithosphere of Northern Eurasia are investigated. It has been shown that the density section of the region’s lithosphere is characterized by alternation of paragenetically connected decompacted-compacted (relative to normal compaction) rock complexes at all levels of the lithosphere from the surface layers of bottom sediments to the mantle. These zones of decompacted-compacted rocks complexes have a global distribution.

Abstract A global symmetry of a quantum field theory is said to have an ’t Hooft anomaly if it cannot be promoted to a local symmetry of a gauged theory. In this paper, we show that the anomaly is also an obstruction to defining symmetric boundary conditions. This applies to Lorentz symmetries with gravitational anomalies as well. For theories with perturbative anomalies, we demonstrate the obstruction by analyzing the Wess-Zumino consistency conditions and current Ward identities in the presence of a boundary. We then recast the problem in terms of symmetry defects and find the same conclusions for anomalies of discrete and orientation-reversing global symmetries, up to the conjecture that global gravitational anomalies, which may not be associated with any diffeomorphism symmetry, also forbid the existence of boundary conditions. This conjecture holds for known gravitational anomalies in D ≤ 3 which allows us to conclude the obstruction result for D ≤ 4.

A Cardy formula for 6d superconformal field theories (SCFTs) conjectured by Di Pietro and Komargodski in [1] governs the universal behavior of the supersymmetric partition function on S^1_\beta \times S^5Sβ1×S5 in the limit of small \betaβ and fixed squashing of the S^5S5. For a general 6d SCFT, we study its 5d effective action, which is dominated by the supersymmetric completions of perturbatively gauge-invariant Chern-Simons terms in the small \betaβ limit. Explicitly evaluating these supersymmetric completions gives the precise squashing dependence in the Cardy formula. For SCFTs with a pure Higgs branch (also known as very Higgsable SCFTs), we determine the Chern-Simons levels by explicitly going onto the Higgs branch and integrating out the Kaluza-Klein modes of the 6d fields on S^1_\betaSβ1. We then discuss tensor branch flows, where an apparent mismatch between the formula in [1] and the free field answer requires an additional contribution from BPS strings. This ``missing contribution’’ is further sharpened by the relation between the fractional part of the Chern-Simons levels and the (mixed) global gravitational anomalies of the 6d SCFT. We also comment on the Cardy formula for 4d \mathcal{N}=2𝒩=2 SCFTs in relation to Higgs branch and Coulomb branch flows.

The aim of this work is to study gravitational anomalies that have arisen in the region of the sources of strong underwater earthquakes with a magnitude of Mw > 8. For this purpose, data obtained by the GRACE space system were used. Variations of the EWH program with a period of 30 days were investigated relative to the focal area of the 2011 Japanese earthquake for the period 2010-2012. It was found that during the preparation of an earthquake, the EWH values significantly increase in this area for three months, with aftershock activity, the EWH values decrease within a month. Maps of variations of the EWH parameter in the conditions of a disturbed geomedia and in background seismic conditions are constructed. The indices of the anomaly δEWH were calculated, which made it possible to analyze in more detail the local gravitational field for the investigated focal zone.

Based on the analysis of published materials, it is noted that the degree of connection between the indicators of the anomalies of the gravitational field and oil and gas content remains unclear. The aim of the research was to study the nature of the dependence and assess the degree of connection between the size and location of oil and gas fields with gravitational anomalies using the example of the Fergana oil and gas region. To solve this problem, the published material on the geological structure and data on the sizes (effective volume) of deposits, as well as data on deep anomalies of the gravity field in the Fai reduction, were used. The study involved about 70 deposits. Analysis of variance showed that the “influence” of the deep anomaly factor on the effective volume of the fields in the Fergana depression is significant and reliable with a probability of 0.99. At the same time, the share of the influence of this factor on the effective volume of oil deposits in relation to the total impact of all factors is 42%, and for oil and gas - 62%. This testifies to the significant influence of deep subcrustal processes that create corresponding gravitational effects on the formation of the size and location of oil and gas fields in the Fergana depression. According to local gravity anomalies, the impact on the location and effective volumes of deposits is significant, but the reliability is low. The degree of influence on them remains unclear. The results obtained can be used to develop methods for forecasting promising areas for performing high-priority geological exploration works.
