AbstractIn this paper we deal with the existence of solutions for the following class of magnetic semilinear Schrödinger equation $$\begin{aligned} (P) \qquad \qquad \left\{ \begin{aligned}&(-i\nabla + A(x))^2u +u = |u|^{p-2}u,\;\;\text{ in }\;\;\Omega ,\\&u=0\;\;\text{ on }\;\;\partial \Omega , \end{aligned} \right. \end{aligned}$$ ( P ) ( - i ∇ + A ( x ) ) 2 u + u = | u | p - 2 u , in Ω , u = 0 on ∂ Ω , where $$N \ge 3$$ N ≥ 3 , $$\Omega \subset {\mathbb {R}}^N$$ Ω ⊂ R N is an exterior domain, $$p\in (2, 2^*)$$ p ∈ ( 2 , 2 ∗ ) with $$2^*=\frac{2N}{N-2}$$ 2 ∗ = 2 N N - 2 , and $$A: {\mathbb {R}}^N\rightarrow {\mathbb {R}}^N$$ A : R N → R N is a continuous vector potential verifying $$A(x) \rightarrow 0\;\;\text{ as }\;\;|x|\rightarrow \infty .$$ A ( x ) → 0 as | x | → ∞ .

In this paper, we consider a degenerate hyperbolic inequality in an exterior domain under three types of boundary conditions: Dirichlet-type, Neumann-type, and Robin-type boundary conditions. Using a unified approach, we show that all the considered problems have the same Fujita critical exponent. Moreover, we answer some open questions from the literature regarding the critical case.

In this paper, we study the solvability and asymptotic properties of a recently derived gyre model of nonlinear elliptic Schrödinger equation arising from the geophysical fluid flows. The existence theorems and the asymptotic properties for radial positive solutions are established due to space theory and analytical techniques, some special cases and specific examples are also given to describe the applicability of model in gyres of geophysical fluid flows.

We consider the linearized and nonlinear systems describing the motion of incompressible flow around a rotating and translating rigid body Ɗ in the exterior domain Ω = ℝ3 \ Ɗ, where Ɗ ⊂ ℝ3 is open and bounded, with Lipschitz boundary. We derive the L∞-estimates for the pressure and investigate the leading term for the velocity and its gradient. Moreover, we show that the velocity essentially behaves near the infinity as a constant times the first column of the fundamental solution of the Oseen system. Finally, we consider the Oseen problem in a bounded domain ΩR := BR ∩ Ω under certain artificial boundary conditions on the truncating boundary ∂BR, and then we compare this solution with the solution in the exterior domain Ω to get the truncation error estimate.
