We consider some initial boundary value problems for the Burgers equation in a rectangular domain, which in a sense can be taken as a model one. The fact is that such a problem often arises when studying the Burgers equation in domains with moving boundaries. Using the methods of functional analysis, priori estimates, and Faedo-Galerkin in Sobolev spaces and in a rectangular domain, we show the correctness of the initial boundary value problem for the Burgers equation with nonlinear boundary conditions of the Neumann type.

In this paper, we consider a degenerate hyperbolic inequality in an exterior domain under three types of boundary conditions: Dirichlet-type, Neumann-type, and Robin-type boundary conditions. Using a unified approach, we show that all the considered problems have the same Fujita critical exponent. Moreover, we answer some open questions from the literature regarding the critical case.

AbstractIn this work we study what we call Siegel–dissipative vector of commuting operators $$(A_1,\ldots , A_{d+1})$$ ( A 1 , … , A d + 1 ) on a Hilbert space $${{\mathcal {H}}}$$ H and we obtain a von Neumann type inequality which involves the Drury–Arveson space DA on the Siegel upper half-space $${{\mathcal {U}}}$$ U . The operator $$A_{d+1}$$ A d + 1 is allowed to be unbounded and it is the infinitesimal generator of a contraction semigroup $$\{e^{-i\tau A_{d+1}}\}_{\tau <0}$$ { e - i τ A d + 1 } τ < 0 . We then study the operator $$e^{-i\tau A_{d+1}}A^{\alpha }$$ e - i τ A d + 1 A α where $$A^{\alpha }=A_1^{\alpha _1}\cdots A^{\alpha _d}_d$$ A α = A 1 α 1 ⋯ A d α d for $$\alpha \in {\mathbb N}_0^d$$ α ∈ N 0 d and prove that can be studied by means of model operators on a weighted $$L^2$$ L 2 space. To prove our results we obtain a Paley–Wiener type theorem for DA and we investigate some multiplier operators on DA as well.

AbstractThe current information technology has been developed based on von Neumann type computation. In order to sustain the rate of development, it is essential to investigate alternative technologies. In a next-generation computation, an important feature is memory potentiation, which has been overlooked to date. In this study, potentiation functionality is demonstrated in a giant magnetoresistive (GMR) junction consisting of a half-metallic Heusler alloy which can be a candidate of an artificial synapse while still achieving a low resistance-area product for low power consumption. Here the Heusler alloy films are grown on a (110) surface to promote layer-by-layer growth to reduce their crystallisation energy, which is comparable with Joule heating induced by a controlled current introduction. The current-induced crystallisation leads to the reduction in the corresponding resistivity, which acts as memory potentiation for an artificial GMR synaptic junction.

A nonlocal analogue of the biharmonic operator with involution-type transformations was considered. For the corresponding biharmonic equation with involution, we investigated the solvability of boundary value problems with a fractional-order boundary operator having a derivative of the Hadamard-type. First, transformations of the involution type were considered. The properties of the matrices of these transformations were investigated. As applications of the considered transformations, the questions about the solvability of a boundary value problem for a nonlocal biharmonic equation were studied. Modified Hadamard derivatives were considered as the boundary operator. The considered problems covered the Dirichlet and Neumann-type boundary conditions. Theorems on the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the studied problems were proven.

AbstractThere are three basic boundary value problems for the inhomogeneous polyanalytic equation in planar domains, the well-posed iterated Schwarz problem, and further two over-determined iterated problems of Dirichlet and Neumann type. These problems are investigated in planar domains having a harmonic Green function. For the Schwarz problem, treated earlier [Ü. Aksoy, H. Begehr, A.O. Çelebi, AV Bitsadze’s observation on bianalytic functions and the Schwarz problem. Complex Var Elliptic Equ 64(8): 1257–1274 (2019)], just a modification is mentioned. While the Dirichlet problem is completely discussed for arbitrary order, the Neumann problem is just handled for order up to three. But a generalization to arbitrary order is likely.
