Disclosure Integration of Lean Six Sigma Principles in Sustainable Supply Chain in Poultry Industry

The poultry industry has been in the spotlight for its enormous potential economic development. However, poultry industry is still not implementing the concept of sustainability properly. There are still many wastes that have not been managed properly and there are still many problems in the supply chain that require more systematic handling. Many studies have shown that the implementation of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and sustainability has positive results on the company's bottom line performance. This research tried to integrate the application of LSS principles and sustainability along the supply chain in the poultry industry in Indonesia. Data were collected from 4 listed poultry firms in Indonesia. The research method used SEM PLS with SmartPLS software. The results showed that supply chain security management system disclosure as the principle of LSS had a positive effect on the collaboration of supply chain disclosure and collaboration of supply chain disclosure had a positive effect on sustainability. The results also showed that risk management disclosure had a negative effect on the collaboration of supply chain disclosure and economic sustainability had a negative effect on environmental sustainability, but social sustainability had a positive effect on environmental sustainability. Based on the results of this study, there is a need to improve supply chain security management system and supply chain collaboration in order to advance sustainable poultry industry.

Selected aspects of supply chain security management

W obecnych warunkach pojęcie bezpieczeństwa nabiera szczególnego znaczenia zarówno w aspekcie społecznym jak i gospodarczym. Celem pracy jest wskazanie kluczowych składników wpływających na bezpieczeństwo oraz obszarów i elementów doskonalenia podejmowanych działań w łańcuchach dostaw. Osiągnięcie celu pracy wymaga identyfikacji istoty łańcuchów dostaw oraz kluczowych obszarów ich bezpieczeństwa. W pracy wskazano na kluczowe obszary wpływające na bezpieczeństwo łańcuchów dostaw oraz elementy doskonalenia podejmowanych działań w zarządzaniu łańcuchami dostaw. Jako metodę badawczą zastosowano analizę literatury przedmiotu dotyczącą zarzadzania łańcuchem dostaw i bezpieczeństwem. Ponadto uwzględniono opinie specjalistów i analityków biznesu oraz praktyków z obszaru logistyki. Jednym z ich kluczowych wyzwań łańcuchów dostaw, ze względu na ich rolę w gospodarce, jest zapewnienie ciągłości i niezawodności realizowanych zadań, które ściśle wiąże się z pojęciem bezpieczeństwa. Odnoszą się one zarówno do realizacji potrzeb społecznych jak również celów podmiotów gospodarczych i pozostałych organizacji. Skutki dotyczące zakłóceń mogą dotyczyć zarówno zaopatrzenia ludności w niezbędne dobra jak również funkcjonowania całej gospodarki. Ich znaczenie szczególne odczuwane było w funkcjonowaniu łańcuchów dostaw oraz poszczególnych firmy podczas zakłóceń spowodowanych pandemią COVID-19, które zmusiły przedsiębiorstwa do podejmowania istotnych i szybkich decyzji celem ich minimalizacji i zapewnienia ciągłości biznesu. Skutki ekonomiczne zakłóceń globalnych łańcuchów dostaw okazały się bardzo niekorzystne dla wielu organizacji. Wśród istotnych działań w związku z możliwymi zagrożeniami wskazano miedzy innymi na opracowanie i wdrożenie strategii zarządzania ryzykiem łańcucha dostaw i zapewnienia ciągłości działania, budowanie silnych relacji z kluczowymi dostawcami, wdrożenie systemów zapewniających widoczność sieci dostaw oraz zastosowanie nowych technologii w celu ograniczenia ryzyka związanego z funkcjonowaniem w niestabilnym otoczeniu biznesowym, przygotowanie i dostosowanie się do nowych sposobów pracy w celu zapewnienia ciągłości działania, analizę wpływu różnych elementów na cały łańcuch dostaw.

Antecedents and outcomes of supply chain security practices: the role of organizational security culture and supply chain disruption occurrence

PurposeThe study examines organizational security culture as the driver of supply chain security (SCS) practices (information management security, facility management security and human resource security). Additionally, the study examines the minimization of occurrence of supply chain disruption as the outcome of SCS practices.Design/methodology/approachA research model grounded on the contingency theory and the dynamic capabilities theory was developed and tested using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Data was obtained from 110 manufacturing and service firms in Ghana.FindingsIt was revealed that organizational security culture has a positive and a significant impact on information management security, facility management security and human resource security as hypothesized. In addition, facility management security significantly minimized supply chain disruption occurrence as hypothesized but information management security and human resource security did not.Originality/valueTo the best of the researchers' knowledge, this is the first study that examines organizational security culture as the driver of SCS practices. Additionally, the study is novel in examining the interplay between organizational security culture, SCS practices and supply chain disruption.

Analysis of Compliance and Supply Chain Security Risks Based on ISO 28001 in a Logistic Service Provider in Indonesia

Risk of goods and security incidents, such as theft, boycott, smuggling and terrorism are likely to occur in a shipping process, therefore risk controls are needed to reduce the adverse effects. A research on the supply chain security risk management based on ISO 28001 security supply chain is conducted to overcome such problems. The purpose of this research is to analyse compliance & supply chain security risks and propose a mitigation based on ISO 28001 in a logistic service provider in Indonesia. A gap analysis is conducted to assess the compliance of security performance in seven areas, i.e. supply chain security management, security plans, asset security, personnel security, information security, security of goods & conveyance and transportation units closed cargo. The result of the assessment showed that a compliance level of above 75% indicates that the company is ready to implement an ISO 28001. The risk mitigation plan is proposed based on Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) which calculates the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The RPN value indicates the level of risk where the higher the value, the more critical the risk and become the priority to handle. The mitigation proposed for managing risk are reducing, sharing and avoiding.
