Abstract: Throughout the history of Social Sciences, many authors have attempted to build a field for Sociology and Anthropology of Food based on the ways human beings relate to sociocultural aspects of food. In order to supplement this approach with a non-anthropocentric focus, based on a renewed attention to material and affective forces, this paper puts plants that we eat at the center stage of food histories without excluding humans out of the equation. It follows the trajectories of six emblematic food species, retracing historical relations between human beings and plants in order to understand how these two elements affect each other across their living journeys. Based on literature review, the paper shows how the trajectory of plants and human beings mutually affect one another, constituting indissociable expressions of a common web of life.                                                                                                             Keywords: Eating. Food. Plants. Affection.
