A new species of the genus Cymindis Latreille, 1805 (Carabidae: Har¬palinae) is described from the Tarim River basin, border to the Taklamakan Desert, Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region of China. Cymindis (Tarsostinus) rolandi sp. n. is similar to C. (Tarsostinus) equestris Gebler, 1825, but differs from the latter in the shape of the pronotum and the glabrous eyes.

The Gammarus zhouqiongi sp. nov. are described and illustrated from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. The new species is characterized by pereopods III-IV with long straight setae on posterior margins and inner ramus of uropod III 0.7 times as long as outer ramus. Detailed morphological comparisons with related species are discussed. The mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase 1 (COI) sequence differs from the other Gammarus species in Xinjiang by 16.6%-32.4% in K2P distance. The mitochondrial (COI, 16S) and nuclear markers (28S, EF1α) show that the new species is an independent branch in the phylogenetic tree. A key to identify Gammarus species in the Xinjiang are also provided.

Chrysolina tshingilica sp. n. is described from Chinggil (Qinghe) county in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is the first representative of subgenus Arctolina Kontkanen, 1959 in the Chinese part of Altai. Slightly broadened male tarsi, flat intervals and confused rows of elytral punctures readily distinguish new species from known Arctolina. Lectotypes of Chrysolina lobicollis Fairmaire, 1887 and Ch. pubitarsis Bechyné, 1950 are designated and redescribed; both species belongs to the subgenus Allohypericia Bechyné, 1950. Ch. lobicollis Fairmaire, 1887 is resurrected from synonymy with Ch. (Anopachys) aurichalcea (Gebler, 1825) and synonymised with Ch. aeruginosa poricollis (Motschulsky, 1860); Ch. pubitarsis stat. resurr. is resurrected from synonymy with Ch. (Hypericia) difficilis ussuriensis (Jacobson, 1901).

Haplodontium altunense X.R.Wang & S.Mamtimin, a new moss species of the family Bryaceae from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China is described and illustrated. Genetic analysis based on ITS sequences shows that this species is a member of the Bryaceae and in the same clade as Anomobryum. Particularly distinctive features of the new species include: double peristome; the exostome has raised and membranous chomata with united lamellae between two teeth proximally; the endostome is poorly developed and all the endostomial material tightly adherent to the exostome.

Mesopsyche Tillyard, 1917 is an extinct genus of Mecoptera belonging to the long-proboscid-bearing Mesopsychidae, an adaptation probably associated with pollination of Mesozoic gymnosperms. Here, we describe two new species, Mesopsyche jinsuoguanensis sp. nov., from the Middle Triassic Tongchuan Formation in Shaanxi Province, and Mesopsyche liaoi sp. nov., from the Upper Triassic Huangshanjie Formation in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. The new discoveries highlight the diversity of the Mesopsyche in the region during the Mesozoic.
