The article examines the concept of “harmony” as a state of contradictions and its role in modern art, particularly, in actionism, as well as the theories of the inner “man” and “self”. The works of artists Mariia Kulykivska and Mark Neville, who form a creative format of modern Ukraine, are studied. It is analyzed how “the art of action”, despite its somewhat revolutionary and pretentious nature, can embody the unity of opposites. It is argued the phenomenon of modern art is precisely in harmony that creates “higher” values and generates a positive assessment of reality, suppressing its flaws and problems. The author concludes actionism has completely integrated with its multifaceted form into Ukrainian sociocultural space, and therefore it gradually frees itself from outdated stereotypes and formalized approaches, adapting to the best examples of world artistic experience.

The Red Book by C. G. Jung remains an unexplored analogy for William Shakespeare’s King Lear. Jungian critics of the play have mainly emphasized Lear’s extraverted rationality versus his need to foster introversion and love. Jung’s visionary experiences suggest an additional pattern: a departure from an initial state of psychological dysfunction, an encounter with unconscious forces, and a return that reflects inner progress. Within this tripartite structure, the two works share many themes and image patterns; but whereas Jung achieves genuine individuation, Lear’s progress is more akin to enantiodromia than to the ideal that The Red Book proposes—a balance or unity of opposites in the creation of a new third state of being.

As a visual feast, the sound and light images created by film viewing have different interpretation meanings for different levels of viewers. As the latest work directed by Li Xiaofeng, "calm sea" not only continues the framework of the previous crime film with the nature of the author's film, but also contains the spiritual core that the obsessive can only leave the scene, which is of far-reaching significance. In this film, the protagonist and the outsider are in the unity of opposites, leading their own viewing behavior and self-examination under the peep of desire, and stripping the cocoon of visual images to reveal the source of pleasure obtained by the viewers from the perspective of desire.
