In this paper we consider a viscoelastic double-Kirchhoff type wave equation of the form $$ u_{tt}-M_{1}(\|\nabla u\|^{2})\Delta u-M_{2}(\|\nabla u\|_{p(x)})\Delta_{p(x)}u+(g\ast\Delta u)(x,t)+\sigma(\|\nabla u\|^{2})h(u_{t})=\phi(u), $$ where the functions $M_{1},M_{2}$ and $\sigma, \phi$ are real valued functions and $(g\ast\nabla u)(x,t)$ is the viscoelastic term which are introduced later. Under appropriate conditions for the data and exponents, the general decay result and blow-up of solutions are proved with positive initial energy. This study extends and improves the previous results in the literature to viscoelastic double-Kirchhoff type equation with degenerate nonlocal damping and variable-exponent nonlinearities.

Abstract We consider a class of abstract nonlinear wave equations with memory and linear dissipation. We give sufficient conditions in terms of the nitial data to prove the nonexistence of global solutions. We improve recent results that have studied this problem for viscoelastic wave, Kirchhoff and Petrovsky equations with positive initial energy values.

AbstractIn this article, we deal with a strongly damped von Karman equation with variable exponent source and memory effects. We investigate blow-up results of solutions with three levels of initial energy such as non-positive initial energy, certain positive initial energy, and high initial energy. Furthermore, we estimate not only the upper bound but also the lower bound of the blow-up time.

AbstractThis article is devoted to a study of the blow-up result for a system of coupled viscoelastic wave equations. By establishing a new auxiliary function and using the reduction to absurdity method, we obtain some sufficient conditions on initial data such that the solution blows up in finite time at arbitrarily high initial energy. This work generalizes and improves earlier results in the literature.

AbstractIn this work, we investigate blowup phenomena for nonlinearly damped viscoelastic equations with logarithmic source effect and time delay in the velocity. Owing to the nonlinear damping term instead of strong or linear dissipation, we cannot apply the concavity method introduced by Levine. Thus, utilizing the energy method, we show that the solutions with not only non-positive initial energy but also some positive initial energy blow up at a finite point in time.

This paper is concerned with the blow-up of certain solutions with positive initial energy to the following quasilinear wave equation: u t t − M N u t Δ p · u + g u t = f u . This work generalizes the blow-up result of solutions with negative initial energy.

In this paper, we consider a nonlinear Timoshenko equation. First, we prove the local existence solution by the Faedo-Galerkin method, and, under suitable assumptions with positive initial energy, we prove that the local existence is global in time. Finally, the stability result is established based on Komornik?s integral inequality.

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>In this paper, we consider a class of finitely degenerate coupled parabolic systems. <p style='text-indent:20px;'>In this paper we consider a system of viscoelastic wave equations of Kirchhoff type with dynamic boundary conditions. Supposing the relaxation functions <inline-formula><tex-math id="M1">\begin{document}$ g_i $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> <inline-formula><tex-math id="M2">\begin{document}$ (i = 1, 2, \cdots, l) $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> satisfy <inline-formula><tex-math id="M3">\begin{document}$ g_i(t)\leq-\xi_i(t)G(g_i(t)) $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> where <inline-formula><tex-math id="M4">\begin{document}$ G $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> is an increasing and convex function near the origin and <inline-formula><tex-math id="M5">\begin{document}$ \xi_i $\end{document}</tex-math></inline-formula> are nonincreasing, we establish some optimal and general decay rates of the energy using the multiplier method and some properties of convex functions. Moreover, we obtain the finite time blow-up result of solution with nonpositive or arbitrary positive initial energy. The results in this paper are obtained without imposing any growth condition on weak damping term at the origin. Our results improve and generalize several earlier related results in the literature.</p>
