This study aimed to identify obstacles to field training at private health institutes in Yemen from students' perspective. The study adopted the descriptive analytical method and used a questionnaire to collect relevant data from a sample of 295 male and female students who were randomly selected from level three students majoring in physician assistant and laboratory technicians, representing the study population. The collected data were processed by the SPSS package. The study results showed that a high percentage (74.2%) of students faced obstacles in the field training at private health institutes. These obstacles can be rated as follows: field supervisor and training institutions (76.2%); academic supervisor (75.2%); and the trainees themselves (69.2%). The study recommended enabling students to practice field training in the training institutions that have human and material resources, and activating the role of the field and academic supervisor in implementing training plans and programs in a way that enhances effective coordination between all stakeholders of the training process.

Abstract In a four-year, four cohort study utilising a series of six focus groups, forty Masters of Social Work students preparing to graduate defined their personal and professional experiences of transformation in their respective social work field education settings. Using an inductive thematic analysis, students highlighted four key themes in their transformative learning (TL) process: (i) defining the nature of disorienting dilemmas in field education; (ii) critical self-reflection, coping and moving through disorienting dilemmas; (iii) identifying the transformative outcomes in a field context; and (iv) facilitative factors to TL in field education. The findings illuminate the essential role of the field supervisor in creating ‘relationship’. The field supervisor/student relationship is the conduit to students’ deep learning, critical reflection, identity shifts and empathy supporting the student’s navigation through their disorientating moments towards transformative and meaningful outcomes. This study extends our understanding of the role of TL theory within experiential learning contexts and the feasibility of its use in the social work field education experience.

Community service (PkM) is one pillar of Tri Dharma in Higher Education. One form of its realization is cooperation between the regional government and universities in the form of implementing KKN that is sustainable and provides mutual benefit (symbiosis of mutualism). The purpose of this PkM was to improve the competence, morals, and attitude of elementary-school-age children in Leang-Leang village through the implementation of a program titled "Virtuous Children's Festival" (FAS) organized by the students of Community Service Program (KKN) III STIBA Makassar, which was directly guided by a Field Supervisor (DPL). As for the forms of competition in FAS those were: Adhan competition, Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ), Musabaqah Hifdzil Quran (MHQ), Islamic Intelligence Quiz (CCI), and Little Da'i. Method of the implementation of the program was analyzing the needs of elementary-school-age children, planning, implementing, and evaluating and following up on activities. The results of PkM are that elementary-school-age children have had basic Islamic knowledge, memorized short letters of Quran and daily prayers, and are enthusiastic in learning Quran.

This article discusses how knowledge of ASME codes helped an engineer in his career. Aby Thomas was a young engineer in India in the 1990s when he got an invitation from a Saudi Arabian company for the job of a project engineer. Aby was able to get this job, thanks to his knowledge of manufacturing pressure vessels and boilers and of ASME code requirements. In that job, Aby helped the company in setting up to meet all the requirements for obtaining the ASME, USA, and PP Stamps in the first external audit. As a result, Aby was promoted a level, from project engineer (mechanical) to superintendent (fabrication) immediately and in the next year one more level as general superintendent. Later, Aby's experience with ASME and National Board codes helped him secure another job in Bahrain. He joined the Bahrain Petroleum Co. in 2002 at the Bahrain Refinery as a field supervisor and today he is employed as a senior engineer for cost and planning in the plant engineering department.
