In this paper, we study a family of rational monomial parametrizations. We investigate a few structural properties related to the corresponding monomial ideal [Formula: see text] generated by the parametrization. We first find the implicit equation of the closure of the image of the parametrization. Then we provide a minimal graded free resolution of the monomial ideal [Formula: see text], and describe the minimal graded free resolution of the symmetric algebra of [Formula: see text]. Finally, we provide a method to compute the defining equations of the Rees algebra of [Formula: see text] using three moving planes that follow the parametrization.

Abstract Let I be a homogeneous ideal in a polynomial ring S. In this paper, we extend the study of the asymptotic behavior of the minimum distance function δI of I and give bounds for its stabilization point, rI , when I is an F -pure or a square-free monomial ideal. These bounds are related with the dimension and the Castelnuovo–Mumford regularity of I.

AbstractWe give a sharp lower bound for the Hilbert function in degree d of artinian quotients $$\Bbbk [x_1,\ldots ,x_n]/I$$ k [ x 1 , … , x n ] / I failing the Strong Lefschetz property, where I is a monomial ideal generated in degree $$d \ge 2$$ d ≥ 2 . We also provide sharp lower bounds for other classes of ideals, and connect our result to the classification of the Hilbert functions forcing the Strong Lefschetz property by Zanello and Zylinski.

Let $G$ be a graph on the vertex set $V = \{ 0, 1,\ldots,n\}$ with root $0$. Postnikov and Shapiro were the first to consider a monomial ideal $\mathcal{M}_G$, called the $G$-parking function ideal, in the polynomial ring $ R = {\mathbb{K}}[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$ over a field $\mathbb{K}$ and explained its connection to the chip-firing game on graphs. The standard monomials of the Artinian quotient $\frac{R}{\mathcal{M}_G}$ correspond bijectively to $G$-parking functions. Dochtermann introduced and studied skeleton ideals of the graph $G$, which are subideals of the $G$-parking function ideal with an additional parameter $k ~(0\le k \le n-1)$. A $k$-skeleton ideal $\mathcal{M}_G^{(k)}$ of the graph $G$ is generated by monomials corresponding to non-empty subsets of the set of non-root vertices $[n]$ of size at most $k+1$. Dochtermann obtained many interesting homological and combinatorial properties of these skeleton ideals. In this paper, we study the $k$-skeleton ideals of graphs and for certain classes of graphs provide explicit formulas and combinatorial interpretation of standard monomials and the Betti numbers.

Abstract We study ideal-theoretic conditions for a monomial ideal to be Golod. For ideals in a polynomial ring in three variables, our criteria give a complete characterization. Over such rings, we show that the product of two monomial ideals is Golod.

International audience A long-standing conjecture of Stanley states that every Cohen–Macaulay simplicial complex is partition- able. We disprove the conjecture by constructing an explicit counterexample. Due to a result of Herzog, Jahan and Yassemi, our construction also disproves the conjecture that the Stanley depth of a monomial ideal is always at least its depth.

Given a monomial ideal in a polynomial ring over a field, we define the generalized Newton complementary dual of the given ideal. We show good properties of such duals including linear quotients and isomorphism between the special fiber rings. We construct the cellular free resolutions of duals of strongly stable ideals generated in the same degree. When the base ideal is generated in degree two, we provide an explicit description of cellular free resolution of the dual of a compatible generalized stable ideal.
