In the Swirltubs case, students apply expected value decision making to a knapsack problem for appliance repairmen. The case is based on a published research paper on work that was actually implemented for a major appliance manufacturer. The case features three parts: (1) problem understanding and definition; (2) optimization results for a small, test problem; and (3) creation and testing of a heuristic for a large-scale implementation that exceeds the limits of Microsoft Excel®. Optionally, an instructor can add risk-analysis simulation and reoptimization under uncertainty in subsequent parts of the project, making it a total of five parts. The case is highly interactive, owing to the relatively unstructured nature of the problem. I have implemented the case over a two- and three-week period format, with upper-level master’s in business administration or master’s in analytics students who have been exposed previously to optimization methods. It has been administered to dozens of students with generally positive feedback.

Recently, generic drug products have played an increasingly important role in the health care system globally, especially in the developing world, as they provide for an effective and more affordable alternative for healthcare professional. Generic drug products are proven therapeutically equivalent to the corresponding innovator’s product, and hence can be substituted in clinical practice. The Gulf Cooperation Council’s pharmaceutical market is known to be semi-regulated market when compared with Health Canada and the United States of America drug regulatory market. Product regulation in Gulf Cooperation Council and Health Canada are challenging task in comparison to EU and USA. This study aimed to understand the generic drug registration comparison of Health Canada and Gulf Cooperation Council’s. The aim of this study was achieved by review of the Health Canada and Gulf Cooperation council guidelines and publications. Health Canada and Gulf Cooperation council follows Common Technical Document format and also emphasizes on safety, quality and efficacy of the drug. In summary Gulf Cooperation council and Health Canada offers lucrative market for Indian pharmaceutical manufacturer and the process of registration has been simplified by centralized procedure.

This thesis explores the use and development of the photographically illustrated novel from a souvenir to a mass-market publication. An examination of three volumes of the Tauchnitz printing of Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Marble Faun details how tourists and booksellers adapted the novel through the addition of albumen prints to create a unique souvenir. By 1889, the technological advances in the printing process, the demands of tourism and the photographic selections from the Tauchnitz volumes made it possible for Houghton, Mifflin and Company to publish an illustrated copy of The Marble Faun containing photogravure prints. Like the European title of the book - Transformation or ,the Romance of Monte Beni - this paper demonstrates how the Tauchnitz touristproduced souvenir copies of the novel evolved into a mass-market product.
