Abstract The cable connector is the weak link of the electrical part of the cable. Most of the cable breakdown accidents occur at the connector, which will have a huge impact on the safe power supply of the city. In recent years, with the development and maturity of 10 kv cable fusion joint technology, high-voltage cable fusion joint technology is gradually applied in the field, but the key process problems in the production process lack of effective control means. In order to solve such problems, this paper use IDIP - DR digital radiographic testing technology. The key technology of high voltage cable melting joint detection, effectively detect the main insulation problems bubble construction technology. Through the anatomical, proved the accuracy of the test results, for the subsequent company to carry out the weld joint process control provides an effective means of. The causes of defects were analyzed and the corresponding process control suggestions were put forward.

Due to excellent electrical and mechanical properties, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables are widely used in power systems. Poor manufacturing techniques in the production and installation of cable joints will cause insulation defects. The interdigital capacitive (IDC) sensor has advantages of simple structure and non-contact with the center conductor and shows great potential for online monitoring on XLPE cables. This paper focuses on the 3D modeling of a fully covered IDC sensor for cable insulation detection. Firstly, a 3D finite element model of the sensor is built, and the electric field distributions are compared with those of the partially covered sensor. For the sensor with more electrode pairs, the sensitivity increases with the sensor length and tends to saturate at the length of 5 cm, while the sensitivity remains constant for the sensor with fewer electrode pairs. Then, the differences between 3D and 2D results are discussed and the sensor parameters are optimized to reduce the influence of the fringe capacitance. The simulation results indicate that air gaps between the sensor and XLPE cable are the main reason of the difference between simulation and experiment. When the electrode width is equal to the gap width, the effects of both the fringing electric field and air gaps are relatively small. Finally, several types of sensors are made and used to detect the cable joint with and without the stress cone dislocation under different excitation voltage frequency. The results show that the measured capacitance decreases with frequency and the capacitance of the cable joint with the defects is smaller than that of the normal cable joint.

Target. High information value and reliability of diagnostics of isolation by partial discharges. Methods. Simulation of PD in Multisim and calculation of electrical fields of insulation defects by finite element method in the program ComSol. Results. A strong influence of the power supply on the value of voltage surge in case of emergency has been established. The method of adjustment of this influence is proposed. It was found that the oscillatory form of the PD is mainly determined not by the parameters of the insulation defect, but by the parameters of the energy object in which this defect is observed. Method for separation of aperiodic signal of PD from oscillatory component of system transient process in PD is proposed. It is shown that in operating turbogenerators and power transformers the unambiguous connection between the phase of PD occurrence and the voltage of PD occurrence is broken. Method of determination of PD occurrence place in slot part of turbogenerators is proposed. It is shown that in order to increase the reliability of comparing PD in polymer insulation of power cables of different voltage classes and geometric dimensions, when calibrating the measuring system, it is necessary to take into account the speed of propagation of the PD pulse through the cable and the capacity of the cable length unit. The concept of a corrective coefficient for calibration has been introduced and a method for determining it has been proposed. Conclusions. Taking into account the differences in PD parameters in real objects of the electric power industry, proposed in the article, from the parameters obtained in the standard laboratory model of the PD should increase the information and reliability of the PD method, as well as make it possible to conduct a comparative analysis of the results obtained under various observation conditions.
