Mixing is one of the most commonly used processes in food, animal feed, chemical, cosmetic, etc., industries. It is supposed to provide high-quality homogenous, nutritious mixtures. To provide appropriate mixing of materials while maintaining the process high efficiency and low energy consumption it is crucial to explore and describe the material flow caused by the movement of mixing elements and the contact between particles. The process of mixing is also affected by structural features of the machine components and the mixing chamber, speed of mixing, and properties of the mixed materials, such as the size of particles, moisture, friction coefficients. Thus, modeling of the phenomena that accompany the process of mixing using the above-listed parameters is indispensable for appropriate implementation of the process. The paper provides theoretical power calculations that take into account the material speed change, the impact of the material friction coefficient on the screw steel surface and the impact of the friction coefficient on the material, taking into account the loading height of the mixing chamber and the chamber loading value. Dependencies between the mixer power and the product degree of fineness, rotational speed of screw friction coefficients, the number of windings per length unit, and width of the screw tape have been presented on the basis of a developed model. It has been found that power increases along with an increase in the value of these parameters. Verification of the theoretical model indicated consistence of the predicted power demand with the power demand determined in tests performed on a real object for values of the assumed, effective loading, which was 65–75%.

Target. High information value and reliability of diagnostics of isolation by partial discharges. Methods. Simulation of PD in Multisim and calculation of electrical fields of insulation defects by finite element method in the program ComSol. Results. A strong influence of the power supply on the value of voltage surge in case of emergency has been established. The method of adjustment of this influence is proposed. It was found that the oscillatory form of the PD is mainly determined not by the parameters of the insulation defect, but by the parameters of the energy object in which this defect is observed. Method for separation of aperiodic signal of PD from oscillatory component of system transient process in PD is proposed. It is shown that in operating turbogenerators and power transformers the unambiguous connection between the phase of PD occurrence and the voltage of PD occurrence is broken. Method of determination of PD occurrence place in slot part of turbogenerators is proposed. It is shown that in order to increase the reliability of comparing PD in polymer insulation of power cables of different voltage classes and geometric dimensions, when calibrating the measuring system, it is necessary to take into account the speed of propagation of the PD pulse through the cable and the capacity of the cable length unit. The concept of a corrective coefficient for calibration has been introduced and a method for determining it has been proposed. Conclusions. Taking into account the differences in PD parameters in real objects of the electric power industry, proposed in the article, from the parameters obtained in the standard laboratory model of the PD should increase the information and reliability of the PD method, as well as make it possible to conduct a comparative analysis of the results obtained under various observation conditions.

To ensure the uniformity of measurements, it is necessary to perform periodic verifications of ge-odetic instruments in accordance with the requirements of the relevant regulatory documents. In relation to total stations and light meters, ensuring the uniformity of measurements should be carried out by conducting annual periodic checks with the use of stationary reference bases of the 2nd or 3rd category, which were previously created in almost all regions of the country. However, to date, only two such bases have been preserved on the territory of the Russian Federation. The reason for this situa-tion was the lack of proper metrological support for the line lengths of the reference bases themselves, caused by the need for organizational measures, the lack of trained specialists, as well as significant financial expenses for field work. In this regard, there was a scientific and technical task of developing a local calibration scheme (LCS) to provide periodic verifications of total stations and light-emitting diodes over the entire range of measured distances, which does not require the creation of stationary reference bases. For this purpose, the LCS scheme is proposed, based on the use of the method of direct distance measurements. Its essence lies in the simultaneous measurement of the selected distances by reference and verified total stations. To do this, a reference total station and a verifiable one are installed on two tripods located next to each other, which measure the same distance. After that, the total stations are swapped and the measurements are repeated. At the end of the measurement, the measured distances are compared with the reference and verified total stations. Then, based on the difference between these distances, a conclusion is made about the accuracy of the de-vice being tested, as stated in the technical data sheet. The results of the implementation of the proposed LCS showed that its scheme provides the accuracy of measurements at the level of the 2nd category reference basis, and the methodology and accuracy of the length unit transmission meets the of regulatory requirements.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to use the application of the multilinear lag cascade model as a contaminant transport model through river networks. Monocacy River and Antietam Creek data, which were collected by USGS with different reach lengths and discharge conditions, have been used in the current study. It was found that the multilinear discrete lag-cascade (MDLC) model is capable of reconstructing contaminant breakthrough curves. A complete study was performed to estimate the reach length for use in the accurate simulation, and it was concluded that by assuming a uniform flow through the reach, the length unit should be obtained by applying Pe = 12. Moreover, by using temporal moment matching, explicit relationships for MDLC model parameters (k, n, and τ) and based on conventional advection-dispersion equation (ADE) parameters (D, u, x) were extracted. MDLC parameters of the field breakthrough curves were extracted, and it was found that the increase of Pe number caused an increase in delay time and the number of cascades. However, the residence time was obtained to be fixed. Additionally, by assuming the dispersivity parameter (D/u) is constant, the changes in the MDLC parameters were investigated by velocity variation, and new relationships were proposed to estimate the parameters under different hydraulic conditions. Using presented equations provided in this study for residence time (k), cascade number (n), and delay time (τ), the sensitivity analysis was performed, and it was found that the parameters of velocity (u), dispersion coefficient (D), and velocity (u) have the most important effect in calculation of them, respectively.

A cubic ternary phase Al73.8Pd13.6Fe12.6 (designated C′ phase), with very high Al content (Al/TM = 2.82, TM denotes transition metal) was prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS). Its crystal structure was determined by combing single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) measurements. The crystal structure of the new phase can be described with a small unit cell (a = 7.6403(2) Å; space group Pm3, No. 200) as that of Al2.63Rh (a = 7.6692(1) Å; space group P23, No. 195) while different from those of the reported Al39Pd21Fe2 (a = 15.515(1) Å; space group Fm3, No. 202) and Al69Pd17Fe14 (a = 15.3982(2) Å; space group Im3, No. 204) compounds, which both adopt a double length unit cell in the Al–Pd–Fe system. The mechanism of distributing more Al atoms in the new phase was compared with that of the Al2.63Rh phase by analyzing their site symmetry and the corresponding site of occupancies (SOF). Furthermore, relations of the C′ phase to the reported Al69Pd17Fe14 (designated C1 phase) and Al39Pd21Fe2 (designated C2 phase) phases were investigated by analyzing their building units with the “nanocluster” method in the ToposPro package.

For any positive integer n ≥ 2, the Erdős-Straus Conjecture claims that the Diophantine equation 4/n = 1/x + 1/y + 1/z has a solution where x, y, z are also positive integers. In this paper, a directed network based on this equation is generated, with properties such as its average clustering coefficient, average path length, degree distributions, and largest strongly connected component analysed to reveal some underlying trends about the nature of the conjecture. Potential connections between different numbers, that result from satisfying a source-solution relationship for this equation, are described using the appropriate number-theoretic interpretations wherever possible, while conjectures backed by these trends are made in other instances. Additionally, a directed configuration model is used to show that the origin of several results is the degree sequence of the network. Metrics relating to the prime number nodes, specifically their in and out degrees, are also explored to yield some intriguing observations. On the whole, the aim is to highlight the viability of complex networks as a computational tool to study this general class of problems pertaining to fixed-length unit fraction splits.
