AbstractWe give a characterization of equilibrium measures for p-capacities on the boundary of an infinite tree of arbitrary (finite) local degree. For $$p=2$$ p = 2 , this provides, in the special case of trees, a converse to a theorem of Benjamini and Schramm, which interpretes the equilibrium measure of a planar graph’s boundary in terms of square tilings of cylinders.

An automaton is unambiguous if for every input it has at most one accepting computation. An automaton is k-ambiguous (for k > 0) if for every input it has at most k accepting computations. An automaton is boundedly ambiguous if it is k-ambiguous for some $k \in \mathbb{N}$. An automaton is finitely (respectively, countably) ambiguous if for every input it has at most finitely (respectively, countably) many accepting computations. The degree of ambiguity of a regular language is defined in a natural way. A language is k-ambiguous (respectively, boundedly, finitely, countably ambiguous) if it is accepted by a k-ambiguous (respectively, boundedly, finitely, countably ambiguous) automaton. Over finite words every regular language is accepted by a deterministic automaton. Over finite trees every regular language is accepted by an unambiguous automaton. Over $\omega$-words every regular language is accepted by an unambiguous B\"uchi automaton and by a deterministic parity automaton. Over infinite trees Carayol et al. showed that there are ambiguous languages. We show that over infinite trees there is a hierarchy of degrees of ambiguity: For every k > 1 there are k-ambiguous languages that are not k - 1 ambiguous; and there are finitely (respectively countably, uncountably) ambiguous languages that are not boundedly (respectively finitely, countably) ambiguous.

The generalized hyperbolic (GH) distribution converges in law to the generalized inverse Gaussian (GIG) distribution under certain conditions on the parameters. When the edges of an infinite rooted tree are equipped with independent resistances that are inverse Gaussian or reciprocal inverse Gaussian distributions, the total resistance converges almost surely to some random variable which follows the reciprocal inverse Gaussian (RIG) distribution. In this paper we provide explicit upper bounds for the distributional distance between GH (resp. infinite tree) distribution and their limiting GIG (resp. RIG) distribution applying Stein's method.

In this paper, we mainly study a class of small deviation theorems for Markov chains indexed by an infinite tree with uniformly bounded degree in Markovian environment. Firstly, we give the definition of Markov chains indexed by a tree with uniformly bounded degree in random environment. Then, we introduce the some lemmas which are the basis of the results. Finally, a class of small deviation theorems for functionals of random fields on a tree with uniformly bounded degree in Markovian environment is established.
