We study the representation theory of non-admissible simple affine vertex algebra [Formula: see text]. We determine an explicit formula for the singular vector of conformal weight four in the universal affine vertex algebra [Formula: see text], and show that it generates the maximal ideal in [Formula: see text]. We classify irreducible [Formula: see text]-modules in the category [Formula: see text], and determine the fusion rules between irreducible modules in the category of ordinary modules [Formula: see text]. It turns out that this fusion algebra is isomorphic to the fusion algebra of [Formula: see text]. We also prove that [Formula: see text] is a semi-simple, rigid braided tensor category. In our proofs, we use the notion of collapsing level for the affine [Formula: see text]-algebra, and the properties of conformal embedding [Formula: see text] at level [Formula: see text] from D. Adamovic et al. [Finite vs infinite decompositions in conformal embeddings, Comm. Math. Phys. 348 (2016) 445–473.]. We show that [Formula: see text] is a collapsing level with respect to the subregular nilpotent element [Formula: see text], meaning that the simple quotient of the affine [Formula: see text]-algebra [Formula: see text] is isomorphic to the Heisenberg vertex algebra [Formula: see text]. We prove certain results on vanishing and non-vanishing of cohomology for the quantum Hamiltonian reduction functor [Formula: see text]. It turns out that the properties of [Formula: see text] are more subtle than in the case of minimal reduction.

We study the representation theory of the [Formula: see text] super Heisenberg–Virasoro vertex algebra at level zero, which extends the previous work on the Heisenberg–Virasoro vertex algebra [D. Adamović and G. Radobolja, Free field realization of the twisted Heisenberg–Virasoro algebra at level zero and its applications, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 219(10) (2015) 4322–4342; D. Adamović and G. Radobolja, Self-dual and logarithmic representations of the twisted Heisenberg–Virasoro algebra at level zero, Commun. Contemp. Math. 21(2) (2019) 1850008; Y. Billig, Representations of the twisted Heisenberg–Virasoro algebra at level zero, Can. Math. Bull. 46(4) (2003) 529–537] to the super case. We calculated all characters of irreducible highest weight representations by investigating certain Fock space representations. Quite surprisingly, we found that the maximal submodules of certain Verma modules are generated by subsingular vectors. The formulas for singular and subsingular vectors are obtained using screening operators appearing in a study of certain logarithmic vertex algebras [D. Adamović and A. Milas, On W-algebras associated to [Formula: see text] minimal models and their representations, Int. Math. Res. Notices 2010(20) (2010) 3896–3934].

We study invariant Hermitian forms on a conformal vertex algebra and on their (twisted) modules. We establish existence of a non-zero invariant Hermitian form on an arbitrary [Formula: see text]-algebra. We show that for a minimal simple [Formula: see text]-algebra [Formula: see text] this form can be unitary only when its [Formula: see text]-grading is compatible with parity, unless [Formula: see text] “collapses” to its affine subalgebra.

AbstractWe investigate the large N limit of permutation orbifolds of vertex operator algebras. To this end, we introduce the notion of nested oligomorphic permutation orbifolds and discuss under which conditions their fixed point VOAs converge. We show that if this limit exists, then it has the structure of a vertex algebra. Finally, we give an example based on $$\mathrm {GL}(N,q)$$ GL ( N , q ) for which the fixed point VOA limit is also the limit of the full permutation orbifold VOA.

Abstract We study a set $\mathcal{M}_{K,N}$ parameterising filtered SL(K)-Higgs bundles over $\mathbb{C}P^1$ with an irregular singularity at $z = \infty$ , such that the eigenvalues of the Higgs field grow like $\vert \lambda \vert \sim \vert z^{N/K} \mathrm{d}z \vert$ , where K and N are coprime. $\mathcal{M}_{K,N}$ carries a $\mathbb{C}^\times$ -action analogous to the famous $\mathbb{C}^\times$ -action introduced by Hitchin on the moduli spaces of Higgs bundles over compact curves. The construction of this $\mathbb{C}^\times$ -action on $\mathcal{M}_{K,N}$ involves the rotation automorphism of the base $\mathbb{C}P^1$ . We classify the fixed points of this $\mathbb{C}^\times$ -action, and exhibit a curious 1-1 correspondence between these fixed points and certain representations of the vertex algebra $\mathcal{W}_K$ ; in particular we have the relation $\mu = {k-1-c_{\mathrm{eff}}}/{12}$ , where $\mu$ is a regulated version of the L 2 norm of the Higgs field, and $c_{\mathrm{eff}}$ is the effective Virasoro central charge of the corresponding W-algebra representation. We also discuss a Białynicki–Birula-type decomposition of $\mathcal{M}_{K,N}$ , where the strata are labeled by isomorphism classes of the underlying filtered vector bundles.

We construct families of commutative (super) algebra objects in the category of weight modules for the unrolled restricted quantum group [Formula: see text] of a simple Lie algebra [Formula: see text] at roots of unity, and study their categories of local modules. We determine their simple modules and derive conditions for these categories being finite, non-degenerate, and ribbon. Motivated by numerous examples in the [Formula: see text] case, we expect some of these categories to compare nicely to categories of modules for vertex operator algebras. We focus in particular on examples expected to correspond to the higher rank triplet vertex algebra [Formula: see text] of Feigin and Tipunin and the [Formula: see text] algebras.
