For some pure cubic field K, we compute the class number of K based on the notion of reduced ideals and the notion of the minimum of an ideal.

Let [Formula: see text] be an elliptic curve defined over [Formula: see text], and let [Formula: see text] be the torsion group [Formula: see text] for some cubic field [Formula: see text] which does not occur over [Formula: see text]. In this paper, we determine over which types of cubic number fields (cyclic cubic, non-Galois totally real cubic, complex cubic or pure cubic) [Formula: see text] can occur, and if so, whether it can occur infinitely often or not. Moreover, if it occurs, we provide elliptic curves [Formula: see text] together with cubic fields [Formula: see text] so that [Formula: see text].

Let [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] a cube-free positive integer. Let [Formula: see text] be the 3-class group of k. With the aid of genus theory, arithmetic properties of the pure cubic field [Formula: see text] and some results on the 3-class group [Formula: see text], we determine all integers [Formula: see text] such that [Formula: see text].

The local structures and spin Hamiltonian parameters are theoretically studied for Cu[Formula: see text] in alkaline earth alumino borate (XAB, X = Mg, Ca and Sr) glasses by using the perturbation calculations for tetragonally elongated octahedral 3d9 groups. The [Formula: see text] groups are subject to the large relative tetragonal elongation ratios of 15.4%, 13.4% and 13.0% for MgAB, CaAB and SrAB glasses, respectively, arising from the Jahn–Teller effect. The decreasing cubic field parameter Dq, orbital reduction factor k and relative elongation ratio with the increase of the radius of alkaline earth ion X from Mg to Ca or Sr are analyzed for the studied systems in a uniform way.

Let [Formula: see text] be a prime number. For a number field [Formula: see text], let [Formula: see text] be the compositum of all [Formula: see text]-extensions of [Formula: see text]. Then Greenberg’s generalized conjecture (GGC) claims that the unramified Iwasawa module [Formula: see text] is pseudo-null over the Iwasawa algebra associated to the Galois group of [Formula: see text]. In this paper, we establish sufficient conditions of GGC when [Formula: see text] is a complex cubic field and give many examples which satisfy the conditions with the help of computer programs.
