AbstractWe prove the $$K(\pi ,1)$$ K ( π , 1 ) conjecture for affine Artin groups: the complexified complement of an affine reflection arrangement is a classifying space. This is a long-standing problem, due to Arnol’d, Pham, and Thom. Our proof is based on recent advancements in the theory of dual Coxeter and Artin groups, as well as on several new results and constructions. In particular: we show that all affine noncrossing partition posets are EL-shellable; we use these posets to construct finite classifying spaces for dual affine Artin groups; we introduce new CW models for the orbit configuration spaces associated with arbitrary Coxeter groups; we construct finite classifying spaces for the braided crystallographic groups introduced by McCammond and Sulway.

Discrete transforms of Weyl orbit functions on finite fragments of shifted dual root lattices are established. The congruence classes of the dual weight lattices intersected with the fundamental domains of the affine Weyl groups constitute the point sets of the transforms. The shifted weight lattices intersected with the fundamental domains of the extended dual affine Weyl groups form the sets of labels of Weyl orbit functions. The coinciding cardinality of the point and label sets and corresponding discrete orthogonality relations of Weyl orbit functions are demonstrated. The explicit counting formulas for the numbers of elements contained in the point and label sets are calculated. The forward and backward discrete Fourier-Weyl transforms, together with the associated interpolation and Plancherel formulas, are presented. The unitary transform matrices of the discrete transforms are exemplified for the case A 2 .

Schuster introduced the notion of radial Blaschke-Minkowski homomorphism and considered the Busemann-Petty problem for volume forms. Whereafter, Wang, Liu and He presented the L p radial Blaschke-Minkowski homomorphisms and extended Schuster’s results. In this paper, associated with L p dual affine surface areas, we give an affirmative and a negative form of the Busemann-Petty problem and establish two Brunn-Minkowski inequalities for the L p radial Blaschke-Minkowski homomorphisms.

For 0 < p < 1, the notions of symmetric and asymmetric Lp-intersection bodies were introduced by Haberl and Ludwig. Recently, Wang and Li defined the general Lp-intersection bodies. In this paper, associated with the Lp-dual affine surface areas, we give the extremum values of the general Lp-intersection bodies. Moreover, a Brunn-Minkowski type inequality and a monotone inequality for the Lp-dual affine surface area version of general Lp-intersection bodies are established, respectively.

In the field of statistics, many kind of divergence functions have been studied as an amount which measures the discrepancy between two probability distributions. In the differential geometrical approach in statistics (information geometry), dually flat spaces play a key role. In a dually flat space, there exist dual affine coordinate systems and strictly convex functions called potential and a canonical divergence is naturally introduced as a function of the affine coordinates and potentials. The canonical divergence satisfies a relational expression called triangular relation. This can be regarded as a generalization of the law of cosines in Euclidean space. In this paper, we newly introduce two kinds of divergences. The first divergence is a function of affine coordinates and it is consistent with the Jeffreys divergence for exponential or mixture families. For this divergence, we show that more relational equations and theorems similar to Euclidean space hold in addition to the law of cosines. The second divergences are functions of potentials and they are consistent with the Bhattacharyya distance for exponential families and are consistent with the Jensen-Shannon divergence for mixture families respectively. We derive an inequality between the the first and the second divergences and show that the inequality is a generalization of Lin's inequality.

Abstract In the paper, our main aim is to generalize the dual affine quermassintegrals to the Orlicz space. Under the framework of Orlicz dual Brunn–Minkowski theory, we introduce a new affine geometric quantity by calculating the first-order variation of the dual affine quermassintegrals, and call it the Orlicz dual affine quermassintegral. The fundamental notions and conclusions of the dual affine quermassintegrals and the Minkoswki and Brunn–Minkowski inequalities for them are extended to an Orlicz setting, and the related concepts and inequalities of Orlicz dual mixed volumes are also included in our conclusions. The new Orlicz–Minkowski and Orlicz–Brunn–Minkowski inequalities in a special case yield the Orlicz dual Minkowski inequality and Orlicz dual Brunn–Minkowski inequality, which also imply the {L_{p}} -dual Minkowski inequality and Brunn–Minkowski inequality for the dual affine quermassintegrals.

Our main aim is to generalize the mean dual affine quermassintegrals to the Orlicz space. Under the framework of dual Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory, we introduce a new affine geometric quantity by calculating the first Orlicz variation of the mean dual affine quermassintegrals and call it the Orlicz mean dual affine quermassintegral. The fundamental notions and conclusions of the mean dual affine quermassintegrals and the Minkowski and Brunn-Minkowski inequalities for them are extended to an Orlicz setting. The related concepts and inequalities of dual Orlicz mixed volumes are also included in our conclusions. The new Orlicz isoperimetric inequalities in special case yield theLp-dual Minkowski inequality and Brunn-Minkowski inequality for the mean dual affine quermassintegrals, which also imply the dual Orlicz-Minkowski inequality and dual Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski inequality.
