Abstract: In this paper, a wearable device used to monitor the posture variations. This device is useful in early detection and monitoring of patient having spine related disease such as scoliosis, kyphosis. Scoliosis is a 3-dimensional deformation of spine. The most common characteristics are bending of backbone in coronal plane and rotation of vertebrae, which results in various deformations of human postures. It mostly occurs in juvenile stage (3-10 years). The existing system consists of wearable sensor network for posture data acquisition, wireless data transmission and conventional smartphone for data processing. The biofeedback device helps to improve the self-awareness in natural environment, but it is not suitable in case of severe deformity. The flex sensor used because of its High level of reliability, consistency, repeatability and harsh temperature resistance. Keywords: scoliosis, microcontroller, flex sensor

The spinal curvatures are important for balancing the body and it help us to stand upright. If any one of the curves become too large or small, our posture may appear abnormal. There are three main types of spinal curvature disor- ders, viz: scoliosis, kyphosis and lordosis. Among these, scoliosis is the common one. Scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine that occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty. In 80% of scoliosis patients, the cause is unknown. In most of the cases the curve is mild, but in some children the curve continues to worsen as the child grows. Children who have mild scoliosis need to be monitored closely. In such cases, no treatment is usually necessary. Some of them will need to wear a brace. The ultimate treatment for a progressive curve in children is surgery. While going through Ayurveda literature, we see the word Kubja, and is a common term used by Acharyas to describe a hump like appearance. This article is intended to review scoliosis, its classification, symptoms, diag- nosis and treatment and its Ayurvedic aspects. Keywords: Scoliosis, Brace, Kubja

ABSTRACT Scoliosis is characterized by three-dimensional changes of the spine and is estimated to be present in 4% of the population worldwide. The most common form is the adolescent idiopathic. The purpose of this study is to identify the major muscle abnormalities found in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis through a literature review. We conducted an electronic search of the national databases PubMed, Lilacs, PEDro, and EMBASE using the keywords "scoliosis", "biomechanics", "exercise", "physical therapy specialty", "idiopathic", and "muscles", from January 2003 to April 2015. The most relevant articles in English, Portuguese and Spanish were selected by title and abstract. It was also performed a manual search of the references of the selected articles. From a total of 4,319 articles, 11 were selected. We conclude that individuals with AIS have changes in the paraspinal muscles, with a difference in activation between the concave and convex sides, suggesting an increase in EMG activity on the convex side, although there is still no consensus among the authors.
