Modification of a membrane surface is critical to help further functional protein binding on the membrane. Mussel inspired modification and metal chelating agent grafting on the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is proposed to increase the hydrophilicity, stability, and functionality of the membrane. This study carried out a four steps modification including polymerization of dopamine, grafting with poly (ethyleneimine) (PEI) and metal chelating agent and finally metal (ZnO) coupling. Characterization of the modified membrane was carried out using contact angle observation, permeate flux analysis, FT-IR spectrum and FESEM analysis. The results show a successful PDA and PEI deposition on PVDF membrane with significant improvement of the membrane hydrophilicity and wettability. Permeate flux analysis showed blockage on membrane surface due to the successful coating. Absorption peak increased slightly showing the deposition of PDA/PEI. Successful Zn2+ ion coupling can be seen clearly from the FESEM analysis

AbstractSolid solutions of cadmium in niobium and NbCd_2 phase are formed by magnetron sputtering and coprecipitation on substrates moving relative to the flow of Nb and Cd particles. The NbCd_2 phase can be described by a tetragonal unit cell with the parameters a = 0.84357 nm, c = 0.54514 nm, and c / a = 0.6426. A very high hole concentration in NbCd_2 is established by studying the coating absorption and transmission spectra corresponding to the intermetallic-compound composition near the fundamental absorption edge, determining the band gap, and measuring the carrier mobility. Such a concentration is characteristic of a strongly degenerate semiconductor or metal. The band gap is determined to be 1.26 eV. The variation in the concentration of carriers and their mobility depending on the cadmium concentration in coatings of the Nb–Cd system confirms the occurrence of the NbCd_2 phase.

AbstractThe development of an absolute radiometer instrument is currently a effort at INPE for TSI measurements. In this work, we describe the development of black Ni-P coatings for TSI radiometers absorptive cavities. We present a study of the surface blackening process and the relationships between morphological structure, chemical composition and coating absorption. Ni-P deposits with different phosphorous content were obtained by electroless techniques on aluminum substrates with a thin zincate layer. Appropriate phosphorus composition and etching parameters process produce low reflectance black coatings.

As more and more special refractory materials apply to laser processing technology, many processing problems have highlighted, this article studies on how to improve the laser absorption rate in the processing of work piece, and proposes the method of nanometers particles attached to improve absorption efficiency of laser materials before the laser processes smooth surface work piece materials, to analysis and forecast the theoretical effects[1]. Through the laser processing energy loss analysis and research, we can identify the major loss of laser processing means. Combined with the most commonly used laser processing smooth work piece surface pretreatment method deficiencies and some characteristics of nano-coating, nano-coating will focus on the process of laser processing to further improve the efficiency of heat absorption to provide a new way of settlement[2].
